I think the new album will be really good. I like all their shit from the thrash in the 80s to the more death metal stuff from the 90s I like everything they put out including The Ritual which a lot of people say is their weakest. It probably is but it's a cool metal album. I know they are gonna be doing the long song thing like MH & Exodus are doing witch to me is a good thing plus they have Mean Gene on drums so that fuckin rules.

Yep, it definitely wouldn't surprise me if it didn't surface 'till June or July. The release has already been pushed back 3 or 4 times, and I'm beginning to think it will be pushed back once more. The last I heard, it had been moved from a late April release, to being released in May. But if it were going to be released in May, I would have expected to see a tracklist and/or the cover artwork revealed by now. So yep, I think it's very likely now the earliest we'll see it released is June.

I see I'm not the only one convinced there will be no release in April. May is becomming very unlikely too. The postponement is surprising given that, according to the interviews, the album has been long recorded and the release date has been pushed only in order to do some promotion and to put out the album in Spring when the sales are statistically best. I haven't seen any promotion BTW, which is sad, as the album will surely be totally killer and exposure-worthy.
At least it has not leaked yet ![]() PS. Congrats to Overkill, who have debuted on Billboard's Top 100 with their 17th (I think) studio album. They sold 6500 copies in the first week. This really shows it's a good time to put out Thrash albums and TestAmenT should take advantage of it. They could easily triple that number, although press, video and ... album release are required. I hope we'll be getting some updates soon.

I don't think we're getting it for April that's for sure. When I don't see any pre orders it's a bad sign. You could pre order The electric Age 2 months before the release date, same with 13.
Crap! I'm also really exited for some long songs to fall into. |

Another ominous sign that Testament's new album has been pushed back again, is Kreator's new album. "Phantom Antichrist" IS an album that is being released in June, and the cover artwork for that was revealed in February. The full tracklist for that album was revealed last week, and today, all the different formats that the album will be released in was unveiled. When you also take into account that Testament and Kreator are on the same record label, then a May release does seem highly doubtful, and even a post-June release is beginning to seem like a real possibility now...
![]() It is strange, because it was revealed in January by Eric and Chuck in interviews that the first single was definitely going to be "Native Blood". And yet the track still hasn't surfaced 3 months later. I really don't know what's causing the delay... I dunno where everyone is getting the idea from that the new album is going to contain a lot of long songs. Certainly I have never seen anyone from the band indicating this in any of the interviews I've read about the new album. And Testament have never been a band who writes really long songs. I'm pretty sure that Return To Serenity is the longest song in Testament's whole discography, and that one clocks in at only 6:30. So they haven't written a single epic-length song ever. |

Holy crap! just put it out it's been four years!!
I thought I read Eric saying there would be longer songs,at any rate he did say he was going to be trading solos with Alex and generally soloing more. That should make the songs a bit longer lol! |

![]() I haven't read anything about there being longer songs, but I have read recent interviews with Eric where he's said around 45% of the solos on the new album are his. So there will be a lot of lead trade-offs between Alex and Eric on the new material. Which is something I can't wait to hear! I've always thought Eric was underrated as a lead guitarist, and should have played more solos in Testament. So it looks like I'll be getting my wish at last! hehe ![]() |

Thus far I've seen absolutely no marketing from Nuclear Blast or the band on the new album. Apart from the album title there hasn't been all that much buzz. I would have expected to see an audio snippet or two and the album cover artwork by now. Even a music video prior to the release is not a bad idea.
Nuclear Blast needs to wake up! This is TESTAMENT for Christ Sakes! Come on give us something! Overkill's The Electric Age was very well marketed prior to the album release. The only logical explanation that I can think of as to why we haven't seen anything is because the album has been pushed back until the end of summer but who knows... |

I can't imagine Nuclear blast wouldn't be behind Testament. There really are no bands more respected in metal. It must be pushed back. But why? because of the timing? I'll tell them when the time is.IT'S NOW.
The time of year has never ever mattered to me when buying albums. It just doesn't matter they can put it out now and still tour anywhere they want any time they want. They haven't stopped in 4 years! Put it out. |

The only logical explanation for the lack of news about the album, is that it's had it's release pushed back yet again. The last I heard, it was coming out in May, but I find that very unlikely now.
![]() As for a music video, Chuck said in February that they were making a video for the album's lead single "Native Blood", but since then, I have heard no more news about it... I wish they'd just release it already! |

I wish that actually confirmed it, but a previous interview with the band had said April 24, and we know that ain't happening. Hopefully, we'll start seeing more press to confirm this confirmation.

If the album is coming out in July, the artwork and tracklisting should be revealed at the end of this month, or sometime next month. |

Alex did hint in the interview that at least part of the reason the album was pushed back to July was to "fit in with the record companies' schedule". Which I don't understand. Testament are one of the biggest and most high profile bands on Nuclear Blast's roster. They should be seen as a priority!
![]() I guess all we can hope for now, is that at least Native Blood is released very soon. On the subject of blast beats, in the latest interview, Alex was asked to describe the tracks for which the song titles are already known. He mentioned that "True American Hate" has blast beats, but that was the only song he was asked about that he described as having such. From his track descriptions, it sounds like Dark Roots... is going to be a pretty diverse album with no single style dominating. Which for me, is a very good thing! ![]() |
