I have to say I'm impressed with the first lineup

Nice mix of bands...I've heard material from some of the bands and while they may not be well known, they all certainly have some quality material. It's a very promising start for the festival and one that I'm seriously considering coming down.

Thanks for the kind words and support. I think that once you see these bands in action and live you will do a "WTF". I beleive we have the cream of the crop in Unsigned bands in our show, and the cream of the crop in Signed up and coming bands. In my opinion all of these bands are superstars and will always hold a special place as "The First TEXAS MADFEST Bands" in my heart and memory. This is going to be a special show in an intimate setting with lots of great people, and at a very resonable cost. So we hope to see you there, and again thanks for the support.

The funny thing is, I know that perhaps HALF of the bands will give me the "HOLY SHIT why aren't these guys touring???" reaction. Just by the Youtube vids and the sound samples.

I have a feeling Mindflow will help me forget that Shaaman disbanded. And it will be AWESOME.

Good - And as long as you are buying, I'll have a couple...........................!!

One thing I found out is that in today's music business, just because you are unsigned doesn't mean you aren't GREAT!! There's an injustice more so in that industry than anywhere else. Pyramaze is right - I know a lot of these local bands and all the way from the top to the bottom of the lineup, THEY WILL BLOW YOUR FUCKING DOORS OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C-yall there!!

BTW, if your coming from outta state, you have to learn several grammatical courtesies:

1. Lean how to say, "Yall". It's a required word here.
2. Be able to strech the word "bullshit" to four syllables - Like buu-uull-sheee-aaat!!
3. Pronounce "warsh" just like it's spelled. I will "warsh" my hands before lunch.
4. Learn a unit of measure that it indiginous to the south - "Shitload"
5. Learn colorful phrases like "fuck-me-nekked-running"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait!!

Chris

Exactly right Chris!! That's why I have dedicated my time to the unsigned column in Explicitly Intense Magazine. The column is titled Dawning of the Intense and explores unsigned acts from all genres of metal. I have always been a supporter of local acts (hell you know that--I see you at all the shows). In my opinion, many local acts are far better than the signed bands and you can have a decent conversation with the members of the band because they are just as excited about the music as you are!!

I got a great example - A certain wanker guitar player in a signed band (his identity shall remain anonymous) was full of energy when he was first signed. His stage energy now is for shit. A good musician friend of mine told me, "He is comfortable and has quit trying". I never forgot that. I even noticed last time I saw Zakk Wylde his stage energy had dissapated. Zaak is far from 'giving up', but maybe some artists take being 'discovered' or 'famous' for granted.

My $0.02.

Chris
