Influences
Matt, I was wondering which bands most influenced your playing? Are these the same bands that inspired you to play or was it something else?
On 'Healing Hand' is there a certain Bible verse that it's based on or is it something from the heart? BTW,I've had the CD since april and it has not left my CD rotation since then. Awesome Debut looking forward to the next. Thanks..Tony |

I know Matt's a big Metallica fan (obviously not St. Anger though
) and Queensryche. I don't know if that's really the answer to the question, but they both probably had something to do with it.Last edited by froosch : July 13th, 2004 at 11:19 PM. |

You will find some answers in this interview: http://www.powermetal.dk/interviews/theocracy.htm
Specifically in Matt's answers to the following questions: "What kind of music has inspired you, I hear some Fates Warning (old), Iron Maiden, Helloween, Symphony X even some folk music mixed in there?" "Could you pls. make a Top 5 all-time list or the 5 most important albums in your opinion?" |

Hey, sorry I'm just now getting to this.
Yeah, not really much more to add; so many great writers inspire me: Tobias Sammet, Steve Harris, James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, John Petrucci, Tony Kakko, Tuomas Holopainen, Jon Oliva & Paul O'Neill, Neal Morse, Dave Sabo & Rachel Bolan, Michael Romeo...I could keep going. Even if you can't specifically hear the influence of all these guys in my writing, they've all influenced it in some way on some level. Thanks, |
