Patrick Parris Resigns From Theocracy

We regret to announce that bassist Patrick Parris has decided to step down from Theocracy. Patrick has decided to concentrate exclusively on vocal duties for Atlanta band Eclipsed By Sanity, and we wish him the best in everything he does. This decision was completely amicable and there are no hard feelings either way. Patrick released the following statement:
Theocracy Community and Fans,

Here within the past few months, I have been doing a lot of busy things as far as
music goes. As you all know I joined Theocracy coming from a band called Eclipsed By
Sanity (E.B.S.). It was decided upon my acceptance into Theocracy that myself and
E.B.S. were to part ways whether it be permanently or temporarily.

Between then and now I have returned to E.B.S. and we have been quite successful
since my re-acquisition in getting our names out in the open after receiving a good
bit of positive recognition around the Atlanta metal scene. Soon this will be
expanding to a regional level, and hopefully form a pattern on to bigger and better
things.

As you can imagine, E.B.S. has taken up a great bit of my focus and concentration.
Aside from gas prices rising and my work constantly finding ways to save the company
some money by cutting our hours, I've been sitting around thinking about and
weighing my options with no added pressure from outsiders to the situation, and in
all reality it comes down to what I enjoy doing the most. Writing lyrics, vocal
melodies, and stories or themes around a more secular friendly foundation of music,
and being on stage with the pumping adrenaline and knowing you have the power to
control a crowd, influence their emotions, and fuel an entire audience's
imagination; that is what I take the most pride in when it comes to music and
performance; however, there is no doubt in my mind that Theocracy doesn't accomplish
this. I have a knack for playing bass without a doubt, but in all my thinking I've
come to the conclusion that I lack the necessary drive and passion as a bassist to
provide any long-term fruitful spirit towards this project that is obviously destined to do
some really great things. My performance with singing and playing on stage with
Theocracy is considerably lower in caliber in comparison to my performance as a
Lead Vocalist and its no secret that I've often come off the stage feeling a sense
of disappointment in myself and that is certainly something that doesn't need to be
reflected back onto the band.

That being said, it is with the utmost respect and consideration towards founder Matt
Smith and the other members that I announce my departure from Theocracy. My
experience with Theocracy has not been horrible at all. As a matter of fact, I hope
that my friendship does not cease with Theocracy, because I was a fan before I was a
member and I will continue to be a fan regardless.

Best of wishes to my brothers in Theocracy, and thanks for the great experience and
opportunity!

Patrick
Patrick is extremely talented, and we know his talents will take him far. We are finalizing the label deal for the release of Mirror of Souls at the moment, and will begin the search for a new bass player after that. Thank you for your support!

Best to you Patrick! Sounds like we get two great bands instead of one... hard to see a downside to that.

While this is certainly disappointing, I am glad I had the opportunity to see several shows while Patrick was in the band.

Hopefully, this means you'll have to do MANY MORE SHOWS AROUND HERE to break in a new bass player

I'm excited to hear the news that you're finalizing a deal for the release of MIRROR OF SOULS; from the songs I've heard you perform on stage, I'm fully anticipating this to be, BY FAR, one of my favorite releases of the year!

I wish Patrick the best of luck with EbS, and I wish Theocracy all the best in your search for a new bassist. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys on stage again SOON
