I stumbled across this cool free vst plugin called IQ4gui. It's an EQ that acts like a compressor.

This plugin is definitely worth checking out if you need another better way to control or balance your instruments or mixes.

I've heard about this one, it's called a dynamic Eq right? From what I've heard it does, I see no difference between a "dynamic eq" and a multiband compressor, but I haven't used it, I'll have to get it and check it out

Technically, it's just a multiband compressor; Works the same way, perhaps it presents itself in a way most multiband comps do not, that is all.

5orcery does the same thing with shelving filters triggered via sidechain. Basically using multiband information to drive eq shelves with user defined bands. Apparently it's supposed to be a multiband without the crossover distortions.

I used this plugin before and it has it's own sound to it. Not the same as the C4 or stock Cubase multiband comp, or even a couple dynamic eq's I've tried. For a freebie it's pretty good, haven't used it for a few years though, so maybe my opinion would change upon more usage
