2 disgustingly overpriced fashion companies in one? That company is really worth £1.9 billion? How the fuck did that happen? Havent you heard my ATH M50's against Dre Beats?

Only kidding. I love them both really & just wanted to see what you think apple might do with it.

Sounds like it's nothing to do with the headphones, and centred around them implementing their patented music streaming service.

Because it was marketing genius. Similar to Jordans sneakers, market it right and everyone will actually believe it is a status symbol.

 Do a video review! Just drop them in the toilet.

Apple is kind of jumping the shark here. I love my Macbook and my iPod, but the reason the company has been so successful isn't because their products look stylish. It's because they look stylish AND they work really well. Beats are shit. They do not work really well.

Yea, because Apple has a history of buying companies and not at least attempting to improve upon the product.

Well, if you look at this list of mergers and acquisitions by Apple, it look like the vast majority were to provide services for an Apple device, i.e. maps, speech recognition, etc. Very few end up being independent products unto themselves. Fewer still sucked total ass when Apple bought them lolz.

It's about the streaming service and the brand name.

I think it's this too. They're probably going to try and challenge Spotify with it, or at least improve the iTunes Radio thing. We haven't got that service over here so I don't know what it's like, but having not heard anything about it makes me guess it hasn't exactly been a huge success.

I'm sure if Jobs were alive, he might not be into purchasing the Beats... I heard no advantage in them over my $35 ATs.

    This.

I don't think they care about the headphones as they are shit, too shit for them to be associated with so I don't think they want to put their logo on the headphones. Hell they are not even worth the stock iphone/ipod headphones that come with a new idevice nowadays.

I also think they want to kick samsung from a marketing point of view because they have been harmed a lot by the negative advertisement they made against them (instead of advertising for their own products, they advertised against apple products). It is maybe their way of getting "cool" again.

They want to get to the streaming market very bad, they own the App market (not in number anymore but in value), iTunes mp3 sells are very high too (and they are going the lossless route very soon), but they still get next to nothing from the streaming market and Spotify is still strong there.

They might want the dre beats sound card that was in the HTC phones a year or two back... no idea if they're any good...

-It stops HTC using the tech
-They will start bundling the headphones with ipods/ipones to attract more customers

Which streaming service were you guys talking about??

They have their own "spotify", there aren't many people in comparison to the competition but the amazing fact about it is this service has something like 65 or 70% of conversion to paying subscribers

My guess is it would be used as a fold-in to iTunes radio and/or match.
