I have zero friends who are willing to join me in being a beer connoisseur (which I'm striving to become). To be honest, none of them really give a shit about good beer, just what is the cheapest and gets you blitzed the fastest. Which is ok I guess, but not for me. If I'm going to drink something, I want it to be good. So, just post about beer you've had that you thought was good and want to recommend to people. I'll definitely be interested in hearing what people say.

I really liked Samuel Smith's Porter, rich dark beer with a slight coffee flavor

I've had 211 different beers to date, if I've counted correctly. I will probably add 10 to that tonight when I go through a mix box of winter beers with another guy. I recommend picking up an assortment like beers of the world, beers of the us, winter beers, etc. They are expensive, but sometimes there are some real gems in there. Some duds too.

Last night I had Tripel Karmeliet, which is superb. Belgian Tripel is probably my favorite beer style.

Everything I've had from Samuel Smith's is great, but they are pricey.

I prefer wine over beer any day, but the best beers I've had were in Europe. Among them Wartburger Pils and Pilsner Urquell.

My cat is named Merlot (he's a red tabby). I like all types of wine, except for plumb wine. Too sweet.

I had some fine rieslings in Germany.

It's my least preferred medium of alcoholic ingestion. You just need to get used to harder liquors (wine is harder than beer, btw). It's like metal in terms of adjustment. I think I've explained this before.

Hard liquor blows imo. You can't drink a majority of it straight, you have to mix it with whatever else just to be able to stand it. If I wanted to get drunk fast, sure I'll do a few shots to get me going, but as far as a night of drinking, beer it is.

    Agreein' wit dis.

Though I'll also honestly admit that I am far from a beer connaisseur and the majority of the beer I've drunk is plain/ordinary beer (Heineken, Hoegaarden, Jupiler, etc.) I'm sure there are some fancy beers outthere that I would like.

In general though I far prefer wine and liquor (particularly rum).

That's exactly my point. Hard liquor, except for Jager, is shit and only good for one thing. Beer has several uses, and tastes good.

orkfist.gif. Those are plain/ordinary for you? I'm lucky to be in Canada and at least get Molson/Labatt instead of Bud, but I would love to have Jupiler whenever I want.

And I don't think you need to build up tolerance or get used to it. The fact is hard liquor taste bad and you can't just drink it like you can with beer.

You've never had Disarronno. Have that and tell me hard liquor tastes bad.
