I almost forgot about these guys and the last album I liked was None So Vile.
This is really freaking good. Really liking the drums, mix and production.
The vocalist has his moments, too.
Somewhat JFAC-esque all in all without sounding too deathcore.

It is pretty good. The songs are a little same-y, which is a shame since the songs on None So Vile are all surprisingly different from one another. But certainly not a bad return to form.

    Hi Jon,
    welcome to the Sneap Forum!

Care to share some info on the guitar tones? Sounds vile!
Did you use your strat? Really underrated guitars for metal.

Also allow me to share this quote from your other post on the forum and thank you for the musical soothing balm! :) :

So glad they made this. None So Vile, Whipser Supremacy and And Then You'll Beg are three of my favorite extreme metal records. The first time I heard Whisper Supremacy I was floored.

Does this imply this is the last ever Cryptopsy record? Or it was at least initially the intention.

Chris Donaldson, the 2nd guitarist in Cryptopsy mixed it I believe.
    Mastered by Jef Fortin.

Thanx for the welcome! Even though it is underrated for metal, I did use my old strat for the album. As the 4 first albums were recorded with it, I felt it would help bring back a certain recognizable tone from the past for the fans. Of course, Blasphemy made Flesh and None so Vile were my Marshall era but since Whisper Supremacy I've been on Mesa Boogie. I recorded the self-titled with the same amp I recorded And then you'll Beg with: Triple Rectifier.
Simple set up: Fender + Triple Rectifier and the rest is just awesome engineering and mixing by Chris Donaldson. That guy's amazing!!
As for the quote, it was important for me before leaving again to let everyone know honestly what were my original intentions when I agreed to another album. Most of what I said in my departure statement I wanted mentioned in the statement announcing my return in 2011. I strongly suggested that to the band but Cryptopsy chose otherwise and only released the strict minimum of info surrounding my return, perhaps to keep a positive vibe going considering they had a few tough years before, I dunno. But the main things for me is that I had a lot of fun doing the album and, in general, fans seem to find the album a little more satisfactory than the previous one so I'm happy! Thanx for reading my babbling lol and cheers! :kickass:

    The question on everyone's lips....

When are you going to release a solo album a la Jason Becker...
