Black Label Society aren't totally terrible. Better albums than Mystification or Out of the Abyss, iirc.

... dude what the fuck is wrong with you? I refuse to believe that you're being serious here. And if you are, please go and listen to Mystification again and come back and apologize.

    Mystification (1987)

Mystification - 3/5 (jangly Manilla Road like a more conservative Return of the Old Ones, with a heavier middle-section)
Dragon Star - 3/5 (melodic arpeggiated Manilla Road, pleasant ballad)
Masque of the Red Death - 3/5 (funny that their grandfather clock is out of tune and timing, has some Coroner-esque riffing, I'm noticing now that the 'Remember Tomorrow' chord progression (or something close) pops up multiple times on both this album and The Deluge)
Haunted Palace - 2/5 (more generic trad but with some guitar trills, the solo and post-solo jam riff are neat though)
The Asylum - 2/5 (instrumental, bonus track apparently, some decent ideas but feels half-baked)
Spirits of the Dead - 2/5 (also uninspiring riffs but has some more ringing chords and a lighter mood than the first three songs)
Valley of Unrest - 1.5/5 (man the same riff just keeps coming)
Death by the Hammer - 1.5/5 (wtf, I swear they've written almost this exact same song before)
Up from the Crypt - 1/5 (garbage thrash riffs)
Children of the Night - 1/5 (generic marching trad that's 7 minutes long)

    No apologies.

Well, at least you put the title track in the upper ranks of the album.

Explain how these tracks don't qualify as metal in no less than 100 words:

but this is somehow 'muh pinnacle of trad metal':

HBB and the fozzman are pretty obviously obsessed with Manilla Road. The Shark forever sank his teeth into their denial filled souls.

Not going to explain the difference between a serious statement and a joke to an anvil hammering fat cuck.

Sorry for getting behind on this. I calculated the results but didn’t have time to post the results. I’m traveling this weekend and consequently had a lot of real work to do during the week. I’ll get the results posted on Tuesday or Wednesday. And I’ll launch the Fates Warning one on Monday when I get home.
