This is a cool record that I never see anybody talk about.
would i like any of these
I imagine so
Buried Inside is a grindy/sludgey metalcore band and that specific album is spectacular. A concept album about time itself
Adorior is super hateful death/black metal, the M-A review of that album mentions it being a black/death update of Darkness Descends and I think that's pretty apt
Ira I'm less sure on simply because I'm not sure where you stand on atmospheric sludge styled stuff, if you like it at all you should love Ira, if not then take a pass
p.h.o.b.o.s. is the one I think you'll appreciate even if you don't necessarily like it.
Super crushing and bleak, the only metal album other than Streetcleaner that I can think of that takes cues from real industrial music and isn't simply edm metal
Updated the list
Three songs deep into that Adorior album. Pretty fucking good so far.
EDIT: This is pretty much thrash metal. No wonder it's good.
That CoC album hasn't held up well imo over the years. Pains me to say that as a huge CoC fan too. Devildriver will probably be in my Top 10 now.
Hoping for 1987 next.
I'm hoping for 1985 or 1997 next.
1993 so I can throw a fit when some derivative traditional doom metal album beats out Hvis Lyset Tar Oss.
I'm sure Hvis Lyset Tar Oss would do quite poorly indeed in the 1993 poll. Besides, 1993 was a stronger year for death doom metal than for anything trad. I would think you would be more worried about Count Raven garnering more votes than either diSEMBOWELMENT, My Dying Bride, or Katatonia.
Why are you so obtuse with your comments instead of just saying HLTO was not released in 1993 lol. I think it will do well in the '94 thread. Probably top 5.
1993 and 1994 are both good for me. Plenty of great black metal.
It's less fun that way.
HLTO will almost definitely win the '94 poll.
1. Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
2. Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama
3. Trivium - Ascendancy
4. Children of Bodom - Are You Dead yet?
5. Devildriver - The Fury of Our Maker's Hand
6. cky - An Answer Can Be Found
7. Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo I'm Burning Star Iv
8. Cryptopsy - Once Was Not
9. Bruce Dickinson - A Tyranny of Souls
10. Pelican - The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw
I can see people arguing cky and C&C don't belong on a metal list but fuck it. Definitely kind of a weak year.
i mean yeah, if that was my top 10 i'd consider 2005 the worst year in the history of humankind
I'm sure your list is Dodens' worthy.
just to spite dodens i'm using the opposite of cig's approach: i'm only allowed to list albums i've illegally downloaded
1) Cryptopsy - Once Was Not
2) Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal
3) Strapping Young Lad - Alien
4) Kreator - Enemy of God
5) Blood Red Throne - Altered Genesis
6) Destruction - Inventor of Evil
7) Deceased - As the Weird Travel On
8) Meshuggah - Catch 33
9) Immolation - Harnessing Ruin
10) God Dethroned - Lair of the White Worm
Not allowed to only list one album, man.
