This might not be a greatly known genre, but I'd like to know if anyone has opinions on it all the same.

Personal favorite goth rock groups: Bauhaus, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Inkubus Sukkubus, Cocteau Twins, Moonspell (though more on the goth metal side), Collide.

I like Bauhaus pretty well but not particulary a fan of the genre.
The Cure is pretty good too.

I like "goth rock" a lot, especially earlier bands like the Cure and Sisters of Mercy.

The Cure is not Goth Rock but Alternative Rock. They only had one Goth Rock album and that was Pornography. Sadly people always misunderstand the meaning of Goth Rock and use it on any 80s band that is slightly "depressed".

Anyway Good Goth Rock would have to be bands like Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Sisters of Mercy, The Creatures, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, The Mission (UK), Christian Death (Rozz Williams), Shadow Project, Faith and the Muse, etc...

Also another good genre for any Goth Rock fan is Death Rock. Death Rock is more punk related vocally and has a similar punk edge to it. Bands like Chrsitain Death (Rozz Williams), 45 Grave, Alien Sex Fiend, Sex Gang Children etc... are all good Death Rock bands.

    ^^
