Good for a laugh. From Blabbermouth:

Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST), Robert Plant (LED ZEPPELIN) and Ronnie James Dio (DIO, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) are among the singers who appear on Hit Parader magazine's (cover) list of "Heavy Metal's All-Time Top 100 Vocalists" (published in the November 2006 issue).

Commented the editors of the magazine: "Assembling our list certainly presented a daunting task considering the breadth and scope of the metal empire during its 35-year reign as rock's most powerful and enduring force. We tried our best not to turn this into some sort of popularity contest where only the most famous (or infamous) frontmen in metal lore were recognized. Sure, the likes of Plant, Halford and Tyler are here, but so are such oft-overlooked notables Mogg, Owens and Sandoval."

The complete list — which includes such headbangin' names as Rod Stewart, Ann Wilson and David Bowie — is as follows:

I hope that rather than a list, it was just a "selection".

I think the order sux, and that many shouldn't be there.

it is more like they typed in a bunch of names then scrambled them up.
Rock singers by definition of the name of the list shouldn't even be there let alone ahead of people like Ripper Owens, Christina Scabia, Blackie Lawless etc.

I've only heard Comalies but I don't think she's anything special either.

As female rock singers go I still think Ann Wilson is the best.

Pretty poo. There is no way Plant is better than Halford or Brucey.

Too many non metal vocalists in there as well.

Hauppy, go for Dreamboat Annie for Heart.

And yeah, that list is fucked. It's a heavy metal list, but it has people like Steve Marriott and Rod Stewart? When did they sing heavy metal? And Fred Durst and Jonathan Davies. No wonder the kids are confused. This is also an updated version of the same list they did about a decade or so ago.

And if Scabbia is there, why isn't Anneke van Giersbergen?

I know who she is. She gets kinda boring after a while, which is why I only really listen to The Gathering in small doses.

:) But if it weren't for The Gathering, Lacuna Coil would have never even existed.
