If you understand Finnish or don't mind listening for 10 minutes a language you don't understand, here's a clip of Mr Holopainen and Mr Kakko from Sonata Arctica hiking 13 miles or so on a glorious Finnish summer day. But hurry, available only for three more days: http://areena.yle.fi/video/1323368837861 (if you want to skip the introduction, the real thing begins at 1.30)

I noticed afterwards that the show wasn't available outside of Finland. Now, a friendly soul has posted some views on YT - here you go in case someone happens to be interested:

God I would love to visit Finland and learn the language!
It looks absolutely breath-taking from where they're sitting :)

^Agreed; some of the scenery from Finland looks like desktop wallpaper, like it's almost not real...but it is! :D

Ha YES! I've always thought that way about those kinds of countries!
Finland; The Netherlands; Scotland, and Ireland are all places I want to visit.
I was just talking to a friend of mine the other week; on how we find that those places are homes to us that we've just haven't visited yet!

The only place that I have vacationed outside of Canada- is Florida when I was like 10 years old, and for only 4 days. Now that I'm 20 I've noticed that all the places I want to visit are in Europe. I love big- blue- beautiful oceans, and lots of green scenery! I've never been a fan of warm climates, as Fall has always been my favourite season :p

 Ahaha! I think I should start doing the same.
Thanks for the clever idea! ;)

Sounds like we want to visit the same places; all of those other countries (except Ireland; no particular reason, though) are on my "bucket list" (places to go before I "kick the bucket"). :D

Logchick: I forgot to mention; there's a "learning Finnish" thread here in the "OSA Lounge" section.

^No problem; I have wanted to learn as well, and Enigma is a very good teacher. I've learned a lot from him over the years he's been at the forum (and now that we have 2 more Finns here, there is twice the learning!). I can't say that my inability to retain what I have learned is from insufficient teaching at all. I need to be a better student!

(I have to say I was quite proud when Tuomas commented that my Finnish was very good a few years back, but I think he was saying that to be nice, because I know I could be a lot better...but anything I have learned that can be considered good; all the credit must go to Enigma because he is a very patient and thorough teacher. He helps a great deal in making the Finnish language easy to understand.)

Oh really?! So I'm assuming that Finnish is his first language then?! :)
I think I'm going to personally message him about his teaching methods. Then again- he might just see my post on here, and chat it up with me on this thread instead :p

AGAIN, sooooo jealous you have met him more than once! ;)

Yes, Enigma has sort of become our unofficial "Finnish ambassador"; he's a native Finn and helps us translate many of the Finnish-language interviews. :) There are also Pere and Bianca74; they are also Finns, so they are also helpful in regards to translation (Pere also participates in the "learning Finnish" thread). However, Enigma has been here quite a long time; he goes as far back to when we had the brown forum background (meant to be designed like the "Nemo" single cover, but instead garnered us the nickname of "the Thanksgiving forum")!
