Bite your tongue, the blackened sun will curse the moon
Skies on fire, nothing's worth a damn
    Calculate, anticipate your every move
Beware the ruthless hearts of men

Feel my pain, my words are in vain
I believe it's the end of innocence
Don't look away, oh, hear what I say
I believe it's the end of innocence

Content splice of this device, degenrate
Sons of night, synthetic gods of men
Crushed beneath this dragon beast breathing hate
Your blood, your blood is on their hands

Feel my pain, my words are in vain
I believe it's the end of innocence
Don't look away, oh, hear what I say
I believe it's the end of innocence

The world is dying, the precious sands of time are running out.
We are the fallen, made obsolete, methodically phased out
Feel my pain, can you feel it?

Feel my pain, my words are in vain
I believe it's the end of innocence
Don't look away, oh, hear what I say
I believe it's the end of innocence

^ Definitely sounds right to me.

Might be "cut and splice up," though. Dehumanized is harder to hear...first verse to me sounds like

    and chorus sounds like

Here's my take on Dehumanized; some spots are really hard to hear:

Tear the vein, inject my brain
    And let the poison flow
Torn apart, you're ripping out my heart
    It's ?
Bring out the switch, you son of a bitch
    I'll ? broke in two
You take control and resurrect my soul
    Then call it something new

    What's done is done
    I'm dead inside
    I'm what you've all become
    Mindless and mesmerized
    Dehumanized

    I'm dehumanized
    Don't you realize?
    I'm dehumanized
    Oh, and victimized
    You can't break me
    You unmake me
    Dehumanized

Ripped to shreds, the venom spreads
    Release the system plague
    Shed skin, electrified within
    ? the final stake
I will break my shell and unleash hell
    There's nothing you can do
Just to ? this sacred new blood
    Becoming something new

    What's done is done
    I'm dead inside
    I'm what you've all become
    Mindless and mesmerized
    Dehumanized

    I'm dehumanized
    Don't you realize?
    I'm dehumanized
    Enslaved and victimized
    You can't break me
    You unmake me
    Dehumanized

    ?

Is this life worth the question "why?"
Or is this life just a lie?
'Cause my eyes are cold and ?
    And I don't know what the hell I ?

    *guitar solo*

    I'm dehumanized
    Don't you realize?
    We're all dehumanized
    Enslaved and victimized
    You can't break us
    No, you unmake us
    We have all become dehumanized

Haha is this what Symphony X thinks will happen if technology fails?!

    I know, it's a bit nu-metal, along with:

Luckily the solo makes up for it.

Yeah, lots of edgy cursing going on there. All that's missing is "Outta luck, but I don't give a fuck"

Don't like the cursing, to be honest. It's like they're trying too hard to impress angsty teens or something. Hopefully this is the most "aggressive" or "vicious" song on the album...

At first I thought you were joking, but then I realized this is real.

Considering this is a SymX song, this sounds pretty uninspired to say the least.

To be fair, the phrasing makes it sound better than the text alone gives it credit for. But I agree, it is sort of funny. But this is metal, people, it's not supposed to be a cryptic, dead serious literary masterpiece.

I think this is what Russell Allen was talking about when he hinted at "rhythmic" vocals. Not too bad - though it just might be because his voice itself is so good.

I can live with it if it's limited to one or two songs. But watching the Dehumanized video (from Le Phare) and seeing Russ's body language when he says "and unleash hell" just makes me laugh, and not in a good way. But I try to view it as him just having fun...

As far as the lyrics, yes, they've been better in the past. But can anyone really point to any Symphony X lyrics and say that they're a masterpiece? I mean, some are decent, but it's clearly their weakest link (if they have any)...

lmao that lyrics actually came from Symphony X's brazilian fanpage on Orkut, where some users listened the songs and tried to get the lyrics. I might have had a little participation in that, lol

But being portuguese speakers it was kinda obvious that some gems like that would appear

Maybe we can convince SX to release a Iconoclast: Band's Version with different lyrics?

And then again, that might just be the final product...

That's what I've been saying the whole time. The lyrics are just ridiculous just like on paradise lost. It's not just the words but the timing, the vocal melodies. They have been so derived since PL..

It's like he's free style singing, just creating on the spot. Michael's solos sound just about the same to me. It's just whatever works.

Every single band member has taken it down a notch since PL and so far Iconoclast looks the same.
