This is going to get messy. Might have to hit up Cryptor to make me a costume
Is it sad to say that my first thought was "that'll be awesome... not sure I want my wife there though" haha
Yeah - I was thinking along the same lines Todd
Not sure how many of you follow Steel Panther on Facebook (I now LT and Andy do ), but it was mentioned in this context:
And in reply to someone asking if that meant they were coming down under, they replied "in Rocktober".
They want to share the stage with a Collingwood player?
I love that when I opened the Steel Panther FB page, the profile pics on the side column were of LT. ROFL.
Haha! Will definitely have to do costumes for this one!
Finntroll and Claim the Throne were fan-fucking-tastic last night!!!
short sleeve shirts were $40, Long sleeves $50. Short sleeve shirt is great quality - Hanes shirt (made in Bangladesh!) and sooo soft.
I won an autographed tour poster and autographed Nivelvind CD that I collected from the merch desk so I didn't mind paying the $40 for a shirt.
Awesome! Can't wait for tomorrow night!
How did you win that?
Competition on Soundworks Touring's website - only valid ticket holders could enter so I figured there would be a good chance of me winning if I entered.
I was right
The show was awesome - at least 200 people there (probably more). Dead Letter Opener were first up - from about 8.20pm to about 8.50. Only caught 1 song as we were sitting out the front drinking.
Claim The Throne came on around 9.15 through to 10ish and they were superb. Really entertaining.
Then Finntroll came on 10.30 and tore shit up. Played for a little over an hour, then back for a 2-song encore. Doesn't sound like much but they don't fuck around - songs are short and sweet, bit of chat between songs but not overdone, just great.
Gotta make special mention for the venue - the Brisbane Hifi is a great venue. Great air conditioning, sound quality was amazing, and nicely structured inside with 4 or 5 different tiers so everyone has a great chance of a good view of the stage.
So, everyone had a good time at Finntroll it seems Hopefully some more folk bands like Tyr, Korpiklaani etc make their way down here now.
Speaking of, there is a campaign to get Eluveitie down here for Soundwave next year.
Basically all you do is register on the forum if you haven't already, and then send this guy a message saying you support the campaign:
Oh,and those disappointed by the lack of anything good in the early "Soundwave Revolution" announcements, AJ tweeted this morning "Let There Be Metal" - so here's hoping for something good!!
According to MelodicRock.com Motley Crue and Def Leppard are touring Oz seperately in late 2011.
I heard that it's Def Leppard and Cheap Trick again. No complaints from me as both were awesome last time. Although a headline show from Cheap Trick would be much better.
what version of the crue???
I'm willing to bet that the Steel Panther tour will be in support of one of these tours
I fucking hope not.
Given the timing of when they said they'd be here, Steel Panther are also a possibility for Soundwave Revolution.
Other metal acts rumoured for Soundwave Revolution include Lacuna Coil, In This Moment, and Alice Cooper.
Alice Cooper has stated in recent interviews that Welcome to my nightmare 2 will be released next year as he is commited to various festival appearances around the globe...Australia listed as one of the country's...so that does sound like it could possible be right!!
Would be interesting to see Alice front a soundwave-like festival.
Some more rumoured names of interest for the festival I've heard are:
Every Time I Die
The Damned Things
EDIT: Just read that "Every Time I Die", "The Acacia Strain" and "Whitechapel" have officially been added.
