Soen are pretty incredible on CD but not sure how they are live.
People are allowed to 'support' up to 3 'campaign's. So I will definitely be supporting Believer and Korpiklaani.
Not all campaigns have started yet - I know people mentioned that they wanted to campaign for Tyr, Sabaton and Eluveitie so if they got selected I would back one of them.
If not, I'll definitely give my third and final vote to Soen.
I read a random comment on a forum once which went along the lines of:
Many virtuoso guitarists are all about 'look at how cool I am', Paul Gilbert is more interested in 'look at how cool playing guitar is'
All 20 band campaigns have now started.
EVILE, HAVOK and DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA are also amongst it. Cool.
This shows how out of touch I am these days, but of those bands I've only heard of Evile, Tyr and Sabaton!
That's a good quote!

Also a rumour going around that a 2nd Sydney Steel Panther show is gonna get added.
The first weekend in November will see the first in an annual 2 day event dedicated to Trad/Thrash/Speed/Power and Old school Heavy Metal known as Steel Assassins. Australia has many all day and multi day events that celebrate Heavy music but Steel Assassins is the first to truely embrace the Melodic side and traditional elements of the Metal scene. Inspired by European events such as Keep It True or Headbangers Open Air this festival brings together a selection of headbanging delights from all over Australia and beyond.
Headlining the event will be Perth Prog/Power Metal institution VOYAGER who will be supporting RHAPSODY OF FIRE throughout the USA shortly, that being the latest on a long list of impressive acheivements for this amazing band. Also special international guests for the fest will be MEGAHERA who will be bringing their oldschool speed Metal wears all the way from Italy for the first time in Oz.
Latest additions to the fest are Sydney Speed/Power Metal sensations DARKER HALF, Tassie riff lords and dynamic Hard Rocking force that is TABERAH and as very special guest we are also proud to have Melbourne's MYSTERY who are currently tearing up the European Festival circuit. The talent this band displays for it's members average age of only 15 years old has got to be seen to be believed!!!

Apocalyptica are coming. Twenty years from inception, one of the biggest names in European metal is finally touring Australia. Combining classical nuance with brutal breakdowns, this fantastic Finnish four-piece are quintessential Eurock with a difference. They are metal, with cellists.
Their most recent album, 7th Symphony was produced by Joe Baressi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool) and features guests vocalists including Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Brent Smith (Shinedown), Joe Duplantier (Gojira) and Diane Warren (Award winning songwriter for artists like Aerosmith, Toni Braxton, Celine Dion). 7th Symphony has been touted as the bands most inspired release to date, with equal emphasis on beautiful melodies and heavy, bombastic rhythms.
Their track Beautiful is particularly bare and vulnerable, but it may have something to do with its unique recording process. We decided to play it naked, songwriter Eicca Toppinen says. It was a moment where there were four guys naked in the room just playing acoustic music. Being naked always brings good feelings. Immediately, it was much more fun.
7th Symphonys guest stars and subsequent reception may be staggering, but its perfectly in keeping with their pedigree. Interestingly, Apocalyptica was originally formed as a cover band, and a simple creative outlet for Toppinen and three of his classically-trained classmates at Helsinkis Sibelius Academy. Their debut release - a Metallica covers album - created a stir amongst fans, but the band eventually blossomed into their own beast with 2007s Worlds Collide (which featured Slipknots Corey Taylor, Lacuna Coils Cristina Scabbia, Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann amongst others), which rocketed onto the Billboard charts without warning, landing at #59 on the Hot 200 and never looking back.
Now with over four million album sales worldwide to date and a reputation for an incredible live show under their belt Apocalyptica make their first ever trip to Australia this August. Dont miss these unique live performances.
Regarding the Dark Funeral show at the Factory... how the hell are there going to be "two stages" there?
The Factory is actually a labrynthine place, they've got all these other rooms all over the place. Black Cherry club uses quite a few of them. Mind you, I don't really know why its necessary to have 2 stages for 5 bands...
Yeah I can't help but think that a few of them are going to play to an empty room cause no-one knows where they are
SO pumped for Apocalyptica! Brisbane gig is two days before my birthday, so even before this gig announcement I'd planned to flex the Friday off from work.
Anyone know how vocal duties are handled by Apocalyptica on tour? Do they just bring along some random? Not play any of the songs with lyrics?
Is there seating in the HiFi Bar in Sydney?
Trying to convince my mum to come along to Apocalyptica because she's a pretty big fan but doesn't want to have to stand all night.
Never been there myself (unless it had another name years ago).
Anyone know the cost and supports yet?
If they only have the floor open (which is likely) then no, it's pretty much standing only.
cheers, Tim. Figured as much.
They might provide seating upstairs, but you can't see shit from up there.
but can you see the bands
$56.10 for Apocalyptica tickets? BARGAIN!!
