I was so excited when they announced this....and then listened to the album a few times, but another flop for me :( Though hearing more of Claudio's solo's was still great. Their first album was flawless.

I bought it based on a recommendation from a listener (thanks, San) as I've been sceptical based on their recent outputs.

This album, though, is a cracker. It's not quite in the Accept or Hell return to form but it's really very, very good. Surprised the shit out of me. If there's one Riot album that should be purchased it's THUNDERSTEEL. Blind purchase. :)

Shame to hear that. Hopefully I get something out of it. :) And you're right, first album was terrific.

Grab yourself a nifty fifty 50mm f1/8 prime for $150 and you're covered for everything (I have the Canon 50mm f/1.4 and it's glorious, but it's $400 rather than $150). At that price you'd be crazy not to add one to your rig. Nice score, man! :)

Finally purchased this after beating the hell out of my try-before-you-buy version.

Carach Angren - Death Came Through a Phantom Ship

Have to say this band is amazing! It's classed as Symphonic Black Metal....but the music is very mature, their corpse paint is awesome :D and their albums are concept albums.

Wife gifted me the new Sons Of Liberty EP on iTunes today :D Love that shit - the SoL stuff is far superior to most recent Iced Earth efforts (although Dystopia is pretty damn fine)

Also arrived in the mail today:

    MAGNUM - Evolution
    POWERWOLF - Return in Bloodred
    TRILLIUM - Alloy

I use to have a Canon 50mm prime f/1.8, but it was slow as shit. I was using it on my original Canon 1000D when I first started.

I've heard the new Sigma f/1.4 puts up an amazing fight to the Canon counterpart. Might check out both and give them a test run before making my final decision.

The Sigma 8 - 16mm ultra wide angle lens I recently brought is mind blowing. I absolutely love this lens. It will come in very handy at festivals and gigs where I want to get everything and then some in one shot.

An evening shot I took with my new Sigma 8 - 16mm. It also doubles as a fish-eye with an attachment I got with it.

Grabbed Riot's Immortal Soul as well as Pretty Maids' best of from zavvi.com for about $10 each as they are both bands that I haven't checked out that are doing the cruise in January.

Just hope they get here before we fly out on the 20th :p

Grab Riot's Thundersteel and the following Pretty Maids' albums:
    - Future World (early)
    - Carpe Diem (mid)
    - Pandemonium (recent)

    All great albums IMHO.

Hope you have an awesome time on the cruise. Just planning my Euro trip for 2012.

Attick Demons: Atlantis (a singer who sounds remarkably like Bruce Dickinson - this gets said a lot, in this case it's spot on).
Royal Hunt: Show Me How To Live (DC Cooper back on vocals)

    New Lacuna Coil :D

Pretty good CD!! Much better than their previous couple (FAR less 'nu-metal-like').
