I got Steel Panther - Balls Out on LP yesterday. Super sweet. There was a card inside with a code for a free mp3 download of the album, which is a great idea.

Read mixed reviews of 1614 - would be interested to hear your thoughts. Love Snowy Shaw, so am very tempted to grab it....

I think it's fantastic. Peter reviewed it on the show and loved it too. It reminded me of bands like:
    Momento Mori
    Beyond Twilight
    Danse Macabre

Twisted, theatrical, etc. Lots of singers on here including Snowy Shaw, Mats Leven (everything), Jake E (Dreamland), and Nick Night (Niklas Isfeldt of Dream Evil). I'd recommend it but I'm not sure where your head is with the above bands. It's not necessarily 'instant' love and they do throw everything into the mix so it can be slightly haphazard but at least it's trying to do something different.

Awesome stuff, cowboy. Out of those just waiting for these to arrive:
Epica - Requiem for the Indifferent
Blind Guardian - Memories of a time to come
    Amaranthe
    Diabulus in Musica - Wanderer

What's the Unisonic EP like? I pre-ordered the cd/dvd (from wowhd - $15.95 delivered) but I didn't bother with the ep just yet?

Hopefully the PO Box is filled with goodies tomorrow. :)

EP is four songs - live cover of I Want Out, one demo of Souls alive, and the songs Unisonic and My Sanctuary.

Sounds fantastic - cannot wait for the full album!

And the following "Mailorder Editions" from Nuclear Blast Germany:
    Sabaton - Carolus Rex
Sonata Arctica - Stones Grow Her Name
    Accept - Stalingrad

@Cowboy - did you get the information about the Epica album? (the last track is the instrumental version - not the vocal version).

    Speaking of, the following arrived:
Blind Guardian: Memories of a Time to Come (3 cd edition)
Epica: Requiem for the Indifferent (ltd)
    Twilight: Still Gambling

    Thoughts on the new loots:

Amaranthe - spectacular. Maybe a touch too 'clean' in the production.
Diabulus in Musica - awesome. Some compare it to Nightwish, but I'd call it more like Therion
Unisonic EP - enough to indicate that the album is gonna be amazing.
Eluvietie - Helvetios is one of my favourite albums of the year so far
Epica - meeeeeeeehhhhhh not into it yet, only given it 2 listens though.

Agreed. Put this on today and thought exactly the same thing.

    Two for two.

Three for three! haha.... It's just too similar to their previous albums. And it runs for 72 minutes.

    Dimension Act: Manifestation of Progress
Diabulus in Musica: The Wanderer (after a couple of listens, not so much Therion but just your standard (mainly) beauty and beast vocal, symphonic/goth outfit.)

Nice work Shadow - LOOOOVE Sabaton!

I got Xandria - Neverworld's End in the mail the other day. BRILLIANT cd - very reminiscent of early early Nightwish. Great stuff.

Also got to say, that the new EPICA is REALLY REALLY growing on me. Absolutely loving it now.

    UNISONIC

Its not smacked-out-of-the-ground-for-six awesome, just good. If I was going to give it an initial ranking (note that I've only listened to the album through fully twice thusfar), I would give it maybe a 7.9/10

Do think it will grow on me though. And Kiske's voice sounds outstanding.
