Had this project on hiatus for 5 years and recently got it off its arse for a demo. You never know, some of you blokes might be interested, but more than anything I was just hoping for a bit of feedback from the people who introduced me to 90% of the music I love. The recordings were rushed as hell and there's fuckups abound but it's just a demo. We'll do better next time. http://kingdomofdecay.bandcamp.com
Saw Matt mention this on Facebook and made a douche comment, how convenient that it is here to listen to! Really liking this.
Fukk me, what are you on about? Admittedly, there's a massive Warning influence in the second track, but surely not the first?
Would've been hard to do. Track 1. Brazen Sky. This was something quite heavily inspired by Mournful Congregation, early My Dying Bride, Saturnus, etc. Track 2. Dying Embers. Much more inspired by Warning, Griftegard, Cathedral, etc. The new stuff we're writing has more of an Agalloch/Primordial vibe, which I guess is neither good nor bad. Fuckit, you'll see.
i'm glad people still play death doom and i think this is really cool song #2 feels too fast though, like playing a funeral doom album at 45 rpm. tell that drummer to stop being in such a hurry. i think it would be ideal at like 7-10 bpm slower edit: also no offense but the logo looks kind of like a gore-obsessed american chugga-chugga deathcore band on myspace
Our own Shakespeare Matt made that logo for us about 5 years ago, so it can't be helped what sort of poofy trends came along and ruined his great work. But appreciate the feedback Erik - both songs feel a bit fast paced in the recordings, and our drummer is far from ideal for the job, but we're working on improving... well... everything. It's a slow process. Cheers.
Website is fine, it's your brain that sucks. This bandcamp site is actually impressive. Can listen to tracks online and download 320kbps MP3s or FLAC? Fuck off myspace, bands should be using THIS site.
that's exactly what i thought upon clicking this link and then reading more on bandcamp.com you can even make money off selling music! amazing! and the site isn't cluttered and stupid, and doesn't pretend to be a SOCIAL NETWORKING site with retarded comments like everyone else these days when i get home i'm starting one of these things for the forever season, and maybe down the line for some of my other projects, too
Both tracks have a Warning vibe to the, but definitely much more in the Dying Embers track. I also agree with Erik on the drummer, it just feels awkward that it's going so far and makes me anxious.
The first track was resonating with Mournful Congregation influence. Pretty damn enjoyable, I gave it a solid 4-5 listens.
Well, for some reason or other, I don't listen to any of those bands regularly, so it may be that I'm just approximating the closest thing I know.
I'm just surprised that it came to mind for the first song when the influence is much stronger in the second song.
hähähä i made a bandcamp site for tfs: http://theforeverseason.bandcamp.com/ not to hijack your thread or nothin, just thanks for the idea is all
Holy shit. I was just listening to The Forever Season and I accidentally closed out of that tab cancelling the song, so I hit ctrl-shift-t to get the tab back and the song started exactly in the same position as when I accidentally closed it. That's ace as fuck.
