I discovered this album months ago and really dig everything here, it´s punchy, clean, powerful, even dynamic in these loudness war times. The bass here it´s pure love.

Post the latest shit that surprised you.

I always wondered how Guano Apes get all these big name mixers. Their music is horrible, even by pop rock standards. Good call on the mix though - sounds good even through YT compression.

Here's the last one that vibed with me:

And even though it's very clean, and not quite my aesthetic, it's hard to argue with the tracking quality on this. Possibly the only EMG tone, alongside EoH I've ever liked!:

Wow, Jeff that mix sounds awesome. The low end is great.

I am listening to the new guano apes for a while but never bothered to find out who mixed it. Ermz but now that you talked I did a search and I find this:
Mixed By – Arne Neurand (tracks: 5, 6, 8, 10 to 12), Randy Staub (tracks: 2), Terry Date (tracks: 7), Tom Lord-Alge (tracks: 1, 3, 4, 9). Quite impressive to see so many big names in the same album. You may not like but the truth is that they are quite big and money certainly it´s not a problem. They were probably one of the most successful german bands along with Rammstein.

Ermz those 2 mixes are really good and I agree about the guitar tone in Confession, sounds a bit flat/lifeless but fits the style IMO.

3 Inches of Blood's new album is a huge step up from anything they've done previously mix wise; it's getting much love in the car.

Oh, and Epica's new one. SO GOOD*.
    *Just kidding, it's total shit.

Haha, it's a pretty odd thought, I'll admit. Listening to Nickelback for the last 3 years non-stop has made me pretty adept at separating production/mix jobs from the actual music content though. So I can appreciate records on various levels!

Ermz: except for one song ("Open Your Eyes" - which was their first and only big hit in the mid 90s) the Guano Apes are unlistenable to me. I tried recently again because one of my best friends is now tourmanaging for them, but I can't get into it. I seriously don't understand why people like them, but they play 2-3000 people venues in Germany.

Been listening to Vol. 3 by Greg Fidelman. Extremely punchy despite the audible clipping in some places

And I've really been digging Will Putney's work
