pretty sure the only people who use macs are graphic designers, music engineers and people who love Oregon Trail

I'm none of those. I'm not a gamer, nor an artist, but I'm just very satisfied with Mac. After years of using Firefox, I think Safari is a better browser. I like iTunes better than Winamp, and other than that I've had no problems.

In other words, you don't have to be a specialist in certain things to get the most out of a Mac. It's fine for the casual user who only needs it for basic stuff like web browsing, media players and word processing.

When I was in grade school we would go into the computer lab for classes sometimes. It was all macs and the only game was Oregon Trail. So we'd all play Oregon Trail.

Those two applications work better on Macs so it's win for me.

I must assure you that my Mac was foisted upon me by the Education department at UMaine. They're all about media and education at my school, and they believe using multi-media software via Mac will enhance the modern classroom. So when I went to college, I switched to Mac not by choice, but I ended up not regretting it. It has nothing to do with elitism, just satisfaction. If my Mac had any problems I would tell you about them, but so far there have been none.

Safari is faster, iTunes just "works", and I like the comprehensive interface.

Again, I can't compare these things to PC apps or OS's, I'm just satisfied with Mac.

Because you're not allowed into a good US/Canadian university without a Mac.
    It ruins the image.

That's probably true. My roommate is a rich Jew who's the biggest Mac bigot I've ever met.

If there's a reason why Macs are more expensive, it's probably because you get what you pay for.

Safari is faster ON MAC COMPUTERS than Firefox. You're ignoring my caveat.

Well, I don't really get how you can judge that or make that claim, but it's still silly. Speeds depend on your RAM and internet connection, not what kind of computer you have. Software doesn't care what you run it on in terms of brand names :p

Safari and iTunes are built for Macs. I don't see the logical fallacy in suggesting that Mac-built software is most compatible with Mac-built operating systems.

I suppose the OS does matter to an extent, but it's really probably not a very noticeable difference.

edit: also, I can admit that Internet Explorer and WMP are AWFUL programs, and I bet Bill Gates uses Chrome and Winamp or something.

I actually don't like any of those. I absolutey hate IE, and when I tried Safari I didn't really care much for it either. I've also always disliked iTunes and WMP.
