NORDIC UNION Pairs Erik Martensson with Ronnie Atkins

"...Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to present the self-titled debut album from NORDIC UNION, which is set for release on January 29, 2016.

NORDIC UNION is the name behind the new musical collaboration, built by Frontiers President Serafino Perugino, between singer Ronnie Atkins of the legendary Danish Hard Rock institution PRETTY MAIDS and the up-and-coming Swedish songwriter and producer Erik Martensson of ECLIPSE and W.E.T. fame...

...The partnership between the two fellow Scandinavians worked well and together they have created some musical magic, which will truly impress the fans of these highly regarded musicians. Atkins says: “The music on the album has a focus on good melodies and there’s some good guitar work as well. I had a good gut feeling ever since I heard the first songs from Erik Martensson, and I was right he’s a very gifted and talented songwriter!”

“While Pretty Maids is still my first priority” explains Ronnie, “the production process and the work on this record went very smoothly. I think what came out is a killer Melodic Hard Rock album with a lot of good songs on it – I could really feel the songs as mine and identify with those. So I hope the fans will be able to share my view and It’s been some kind of a little fresh breath in between albums for me really...”

I am *really* looking forward to this! I've been a Pretty Maids fan for decades (they SLAYED at PPUSA) and Ronnie is a criminally underrated vocalist. Erik seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to melodic hard rock -- W.E.T. and Eclipse are both fantastic.

Can't wait to hear some samples! :headbang:

Erik is a monster songwriter. He's literally the best from the Frontiers stable. I was actually wondering what he's up to as he's normally on 2 albums per year and he's only done Eclipse so far. So this news is really great. I hope he's working on a new WET album as well as a new Ammunition with the Wigwam guy or better still a new Eclipse.

What's the best Pretty Maids album to start with?

Of course, you gotta start with the mighty Future World, and for me, Scream, Pandemonium and Motherland are tops. Really, all of their releases are great....not a stinker in the bunch.

No, I just continually screw up the new embedding code.

Not bad...some of the other samples sounded like they had greater potential...

Sadly, this album is just sort of meh. A few decent songs but for the most part very generic with rehashed melodies and ideas. Not many hooks either. Still, it's worth a listen.

Disagree totally. Melodies are pretty awesome. At least 5 or 6 killer tunes. Not saying it has an original bone in its body but what tasty bones!

Don't agree at all. I think this is killer melodic hard rocking stuff, with great riffing, great vox and excellent melodies and choruses. A total winner for me.
