Well today’s the day. Will there be a continuance of the Draconian Rule of the Bush era or will it be the beginning of restoring America back to its former glory?

Heres a little something from Otep's Shamaya

"Resident Bush: you vile bag of pig vomit.

"In less than 24 hours and you are out of our lives. Forever.

"You, the dogshit on our communal shoe, have been an unbelievable embarrassment to this nation. And as the minutes tick by, we scrape the last remnants of you from our soul, er sole.

"You have lied, cheated, and bullied your way to the bottom of the pile. Enjoy the stench, you vile bag of pig vomit.

"The economy is sinking, we have lost millions of jobs (though you stayed very rich), over 4000 American soliders died for your lie, we've lost our moral standing, we've lost the respect of the world. Until now. You are history.

"And you say you have no regrets. You smug, pug ugly bastard. I will drink a toast to your departure and laugh like a lunatic knowing you leave as u came in: an absolute, unrelenting FAILURE.

    "Eat shit. Coward."

Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.

I don't think Obama will be any different. He has already done a 180 on most of what he was saying during his campaign...

I'm pretty sick of everyone looking at him in a saint-like light... and he hasn't done shit yet... if you care, look at his Illinois voting record. Its available online... and it tells a very different story of Obama than the media does...

LOL, laughable and oh so classy lyrics...Please. Who gives a flying shit about Otep or what their skank-ass, shitty singer think? They suck majorly.

I can't say I'm happy about the incoming inauguration, but I'm trying to remain hopeful for the future.

As far as my thoughts on Bush, the weak points of his administration weren't purely on his shoulders. Remember, the decisions of his entire administration affect the entire process. Also, people LOVE to hate Bush. I gurantee if you ask any "average" American on the street why, you will hear such outburts like "the economy!", "the war in Iraq!", and "no blood for oil!!!11" BUT, if your ask them to ellaborate, they are suddenly silent. I'm not saying Bush is a saint, but the majority of Americans have their heads stuck so far up their asses that they blindly follow whatever media outlet they utilize and refuse to explore political issues any further.

I'm not saying I'm the biggest Bush fan...lord knows he can't speak for shit and has made some questionable choices. As far as the war in Iraq is concerned, the invasion should have been handled differently, but in the end I think the actions we took in Iraq will be beneficial. History will look back upon it and we will realize that taking out a tyrant like Hussein was the better decision. Could things have been handled different over there? Yep, of course. I refuse to have 100% sour grapes over the occupation though.

I am just hoping that Obama can deliver on certain promises and not just live up to the bag of hot air that I think he is. I'm glad that he supports more troops going to Afghanistan. I REALLY want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm hopefuly, but weary.

It's bad enough that actual celebrities voice their political opinions...

the sad thing is that people who think like you are in a minority.
taking that into account I believe Obama was the "better" choice as of now. we'll see what he does. the expectations the media set up (incl. Obama himself) are pretty (or too) high though.

nonetheless I think this guy deserves a chance, let's see what he makes of it, certainly a better start than bush had. I'm not saying his background is clean all the way through but I do think that he might be able to move something if he makes the right decisions.

Absolutely! I'm willing to give any president a chance. I'm simply going by my personal political views and the sensationalism that overshadowed his campaign. (In my eyes at least...)

I for one would be ecstatic if he turns out to be the best president ever. Since he is technically not president yet, I can only go by expectations and predictions.

Here's to hoping he does a good job and can prove me wrong! :kickass:

Of course he hasn't done shit yet....he ain't the president yet. and we don't look at him in a saint like-light, it's just that this country has been in the shit hole for four years and we want something new and we made it happen. and for black people and some white people it's a sign that we as a country are ready and willing to get past a dark history. seems to me that you already have him as a failure or are hoping that he fails.

I am happy to see that having a MIXED president (yes mixed, not black) is possible in this country. I can also understand the glee that African Americans can feel regarding this historic moment. It must be a great feeling and is warranted.

But, why don't we step back for a second. Let's say John McCain was the democratic nominee, with the same campaign, same values, same EXACT issue that Obama had.

Now, let's say Obama was the Republican, had a very weak campaign, and stood for the same issues that McCain pushed throughout his campaign.

Would the said African Americans still vote for Obama?

    Food for thought.

Can we please stop saying "African American?" My lineage is Portuguese, English, Welsh, and German. I was born in America. I'm an American. I happen to be white. I have never been to Portugal or Wales, and I certainly don't consider myself Portuguese-American or English-American or German-American. Barack Obama is our nation's first black president, and I hope he does a bang-up job.

Feels like the rest of the world is USA's slave nation since all we have been hearing over here (Sweden in my case) is "USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA" over all the newspapers, TV channels, well basically every damn media, even though we are not allowed to vote or anything since... duh, it's not our country. I'm personally so sick of politics and especially those that involve the US, and I'm even sicker of the fact that the whole world looks up to the US as if they really were the head of this planet. If anyone around here thinks I'm anti-USA, you're wrong, I'm just anti-politics and the US just happens to be the most shit stirring country in the whole world, hence why most politics involve the US.

I'm also with those people who don't think Obama is going to make anything better. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the past and see how all politicians have done it so far (lies lies lies lies and more lies until you are in charge, and then fuck with everyone's lives), so I believe it's pretty justified to be a sceptic really.

I saw on TV or on the computer just a few days ago, where Bush gave a speech and I recall him saying "I'm also disappointed that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq". HAHA NO SHIT YOU COCK SUCKER? What the fuck man... then how come he sounded so sure when he was trying to rally people's support to invade Iraq?

Fucking politics... it's even worse than religion, or atleast close to it...

well if Obama had picked Sarah Palin as his running mate ......hell no we wouldn't vote for him:lol: but by what you said "stood for the same issues that McCain pushed throughout his campaign" you agree that most Americans didn't want what he wanted for America. Also we were ready to vote for Hilary over a republican. so African American had nothing to do with it...well maybe a little bit:lol:
