I keep seeing this band all over the place. So much so, that I think it's finally time to check them out. Apparently they are listed as a "Progressive Rock" band, but as ambiguous as Progressive is, and also how unreliable genres are in the first place, I have reserved judgment.

Has anyone heard of this band? I'm really into other "Progressive" bands, (Porcupine Tree being one of my most loved obsessions). Does this band live up to that title? And if so, what CD should I check out?

I'm addicted to this band, they are so underrated.
They will take a few spins before you can really get into them, but once you do...you have found nirvana. :)
All their three releases are up to par with one and other in their own ways.
Here's a solid playlist to perhaps start of with:

    Effloresce:
    You Wish
    Catalyst
    Long Forgotten

    Everyone Into Position:
    Music For A Nurse
You Can't Keep A Bad Man Down
    Ornament/The Last Wrongs

    Frames:
    Trail Of Life
    Savant
    The Frame

But then again, any playlist by them would be a solid one.

Edit: And no, you can't categorize this band...They're more like Post Indie Progressive Pop Metal :p

Everyone Into Position & Frames are excellent buys. I wouldn't call them prog. But then, prog sucks. Oceansize doesn't.

I haven't heard Frames, but personally I found Efflouresce to be a far more interesting listen compared to Everyone into Position.

    Effloresce: their heaviest
    Position: the easiest to digest
Frames: the most epic and progressive

I don't get how people can't like them o_O...Sure it can take a few spins before getting used to it, but i can honestly say that i've never been as blown away by any band as Oceansize.

Lay back, close your eyes and listen through one of these songs, you won't regret it :)

This band sounds awesome! Thanks for the recommendation. I love this kind of stuff! I'm a total post-rock/metal nerd.

I kinda like Effloresce already, just not sure about Frames. I haven't heard the rest.

In any case, I do acknowledge their talent.
