Not prog, not necessarily metal (there is a breakdown though, so debatable. lets say hard rock) but catchy as crap and I just cannot stop playing this CD. Comes out tomorrow.

Here's some cool, modern rock/metal with harmonies, yes vocal harmonies in the chorus. This is pretty darn cool stuff from Ft. Wayne Indiana. They only have an EP now available on Amazon.

Some Overkill style prog metal from the newest Warbringer album.. I really enjoy their renewal of classic thrash metal. Havok is really good as well.

^^^SMT is a great album in a great year for me personally. It's gonna be hard to come up with a years-end ranking when the dust settles. This will be among the top contenders...

    SSSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's sad to read about bands that cannot financially continue to put out their material while seeing supposed "artists" rake in millions. It's the way of the industry and that rarely changes but doesn't make it any less frustrating. This last album is first-rate awesomeness, so at least they go out with that. There are few bands that are self-sustaining, so a lot of these guys work other jobs. Not sure why SMT can't just be a recording act till things get better, but they've made their decision.

Here is a cool folk/prog/metal song by a band called Kerunna. I guess they are currently unsigned, but it is pretty promising stuff.
