OPETH SIGN TO NUCLEAR BLAST ENTERTAINMENT; SORCERESS ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN LATE 2016

"...“We’re happy to confirm that we have indeed signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment and will be putting out our 12th studio album Sorceress via our own imprint, Moderbolaget Records," states Mikael Åkerfeldt. "The decision was made in Markus Staiger’s (Nuclear Blast kingpin) ridiculously potent Porsche going at 150 mph somewhere in the south of Germany. We’re happy to be part of the NB team and look forward to a fruitful relationship.”...
...Opeth are currently in the studio with Tom Dalgety putting the finishing touches on Sorceress. A release for the album is tentatively scheduled for the fall via Moderbolaget Records / Nuclear Blast Entertainment.."

huh. I didn't know Ozzfest was coming back. Looks like a pretty decent lineup with the oblig dud bands opening.

on topic, Wasn't expecting an Opeth album so quickly. Hype.

Lol I can just tell from that video that Michael is an absolute tyrant to work with in the studio. Closely and humourlessly watching to make sure nobody fucks up his perfect sound.

Psyched for a new Opeth album as ever.

I'm only vaguely interested in this one. The last two pretty much killed my Opeth buzz.

Listen to them again. It took me ages to get into Heritage, but it was worth it.

Agreed, Heritage has grown on me big-time. But Pale Communication is absolutely a stellar release. Not sure how prog fans can't like that one.

Yh, it was a definite improvement. The songs felt more fully expressed, you could really hear that Michael had worked himself into the new sound. Hopefully the new album will be even better.

I'm at the point where there's so much good music coming out that I really don't want to have to work to like an album.

Wish I shared your optimism on that point. Also it's my experience that generally the very best albums do require a little work.

Good video, looks like a great place to record. Sounds from the snatch of song at the end like this record is going to be heavier than the previous two.

Try Witherscape or Barren Earth. They give you a big Opethy hug right away.

Wasn't so into Barren Earth last time I listened to them (which was years ago, admittedly) but Witherscape is great, yeah. Need to check out some of those bands in the bands that sound like Opeth thread that got started a little while ago.

    Pale Communion. Not Pale "Communication."
