While Heaven Wept (often abbreviated as WHW) is an epic doom metal band based in Dale City, Virginia, USA. Their melodic, classically influenced style could be compared to bands such as Solitude Aeturnus and Solstice; however, 2003's acclaimed 'Of Empires Forlorn' saw the band branching out into a variety of metal and progressive styles. This trend continues as WHW prepare their next album to be released through Nuclear Blast Records in 2013.

Theocracy is a Christian progressive power metal band founded in Athens, Georgia. The group originally started out as a one man project with all the instruments and vocals done on the debut album performed by founder Matt Smith. Musically, the band mixes the power metal style of Edguy, Iced Earth, and Helloween with progressive influences from bands such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Kansas and Rush. Theocracy has just released their third and most comprehensive album to date, 'As the World Bleeds.

Lorenguard is a fusion of fantasy literature and theatrical symphonic metal. The band is based out of Indianapolis, IN. Combining elements of European power metal with elegant hooks and melodies, Lorenguard's music tells an epic tale of their stand against corruption and malignancy.

Void of Reason is a progressive melodic metal band from Atlanta, GA. whose sound has been compared to bands ranging from Queensryche to Dokken, and Dream Theater to Dio. VOR combines heavy guitar riffs with melodic vocal lines and stacked harmonies to create a listening experience which is enjoyed by many.

BRAVE is a progressive metal band from metro Washington, DC whose atmospheric style utilizes female vocals and violins to shape their unique and passionate, melodic sound.

MACHINAGE has always believed in its own identity, writing songs which mix the thrash metal from the 80s together with modern technique while blending an aggressive and odd vocal melody. Playing thrash metal from the vein, these Brazilian natives have been showing their fury playing songs that truly take us back.

The last thing I typed was just a mishmash of awe and potential excitement. So much good metal outside of my home area next year!

Awesome. I've been harassing Hoyt about Brave for years now. I haven't seen them since I left DC in 2008 so I can't wait. Those who have never seen them before are in for a real treat.

Wow, I actually had no idea that While Heaven Wept was from Dale City. Neat! Just saw Brave at Flight of the Valkyries a few weeks back, too. They were great.

There was a time not too long ago that Brave opened about as many Jaxx shows as, well, A Sound of Thunder. Having them and WHW on the same bill should make for a very cool experience.

    LOL! Talk about a reputation!

My friend Chris Wellborn was once their bass player. I heard of them when I first entered the scene because back then (around 2006?) whenever I said I was in a female fronted metal band from DC they would think I meant Brave. XD They recorded their first album with the same producer we used for our last one, but other then that (and the female-fronted thing) we have very little in common. I definitely like their use of violins and keys, though!

awesome! You should check out your neighbors LORENGUARD. They just released their latest album yesterday. And it is most excellent epic fantasy metal! I cannot wait to bring them to the Pathfinder stage. :kickass:

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. :D I am very proud of this lineup. And I still have one more solid local band to announce to kick off the show. woot!

I've heard their demos. They used to dress up in silly costumes that would make 1970's Rush blush...but I haven't really kept up anymore.

heh, well from the vids I saw from two years ago, I think it's more like a 'Ren-Faire-lite' stage show since it adds to the atmosphere of the fantasy metal. I'm looking forward to seeing what they bring us.

and from what they tell me, their demos are quite embarrasing compared to their latest efforts.

    This is REALLY tempting.

    Edit:

Also, Lorenguard is REALLY good live. Ignore the costumes. This band is better than you might think they are.

The Reticent would fit perfectly in with those two bands, I'm sure you would agree.
