And I can't really afford an axe Fx so any opinions on them?

From the clips that I've heard, I think it doesn't really do the high gain metal stuff that well but the medium gain, more rock oriented tones, sounds pretty lively to me.

Honestly man, I went down the same route as you.. Trying to figure out if I should buy a Pod HD or go all the way with the Axe fx.

I went to guitar center and tried the pod out. I hated it. I don't understand why Line 6 can't make up some name for the amp they're trying to model instead of "Insane" or that type of shit. It looked and felt like something a 16 year old kid would get hyped into buying..

I'm currently saving for my Axe fx because I've never heard it sound horrible. Ola has posted some awesome stuff and theres tons of other stuff floating around. If you're looking for something to use live and record with. Go for the Axe. It's what Im doing. Hopefully I should have it by this week. :D

Yes, save up the money for the axe. I am extremely happy with the standard model. I've only had it for a few days but I am blown away. Plus you have the 15 day money back guarantee. If you don't like it, send it back.

Axe-FX sounds better, if you can save the money, go for it. If you can´t, I believe the POD HD will do the job, specially for gigs.

AXE FX costs up to 7 times more than the pod hd. comparing them is nuts. line 6 made a big jump in terms of modelling imho (although they're still way behind the competition). it's quite ok for mobile gigging.

I've been gassing for an Axe-FX as an FX unit to couple with my Fryette Sig X. Lot of people told me I am mad for wanting to spend that much money on effects.

But to me... the Axe-FX is top shelf of the modellers, and worth the price.

Although I desire it much less for the amps since I got the Sig X.
