Meh, hardly worth it, but I appreciate the smartass comments. They sound nothing like Realm aside from the range of the vocalist, and I stand by that.

My friend keeps trying to get me into them, but I just can't dig the vocals. It makes the music sound like everyone's joking to me. I have the same problem with SikTh, the music is really good, but jesus the vocals are intolerable.

Take the comments however you wish Jeff, I was pointing out what I found to be clearly wrong in your statement. However, I have no intention or desire to get into a forum squabble with you ... agree to disagree then

I say they remind me of Realm and I stand by that as well

Said it in the last thread about them and I say it again:
    Love this band.

    E;
and the low quality nay-saying in this thread makes me like them even more. :)

Yeah, I would listen to PtH and THA a lot more if there were a way to mute the weedilee bits. My ears barely even register them as notes anymore; they could be replaced with sound effect samples or percussion loops and make as much sense to me compositionally. Mad skillz tho, no doubt. :)

    Fuuck yeah, love PTH.
When I first got Fortress, I was listening to it like everyday for months. I honestly never even realize how 'shreddy' the album was until about 2 years later haha. You just kinda notice the overall song writing well before the technicality.
I love how they give the music some space to breathe with some more highly melodic, poppier elements, so it's not like you're being beaten in the face non stop with a constant onslaught

    +1

I listen to Kezia much more than Fortress, I think the songwriting is a lot better on that album.

I just find them to be quite gimmick-laden. They have this outer layer of being something totally original but when you get down to it, they're lacking that extra ingredient - they are the sum of their own parts, nothing more.

I used to love them when I first heard them about 4 and a half years ago but my musical taste was more impressionable and so the gimmicky/cheesiness got me! I used to spin kezia on a regular basis for about 2 months but then I got seriously bored of it. Respect to the musicianship, just lacks something extra...

    sick riffs though

Sorry to bust in on this thread, (I hope I'm not stepping on any toes) but one of the groups I work with is managed by Protest's guitarist & toured with them last year.

I shot a video for this group "Assassinate the Following" last November, so if you're into that whole tech/shred thing, please consider:

    Thanks...

You have my sympathies. That must have been a trying day.

Another contender for the "most abyssmal contemporary metal cliches in a single song" award.

I cant get into this band at all. Just too much random nonsensical wankery for my liking.

Rody can be an ass at times... but I love the band anyways.
