What am I now, and old girlfriend for you to talk about "our history"?

For "a musician that has been gigging for over 5 years," I am surprised that you find this so surprising. It's pretty common.

If you don't like my responses because they go against what you say, I don't know what to tell you. Most of the times I don't do it just for the sake of being a dick - I am either giving you a little enlightening (which let's face it, most of the times you need because you have said a LOT of things that make absolute zero sense), or simply disagreeing with your point of view.

This is a forum for music discussion. It's also a close, tight-knit community. There will be people who will agree with you and who will disagree with you. Deal with it. I have been part of this community for about 12 years now. You will be attending your first ProgPower. A lot of people around here are some of my best friends and can tell you I'm a good guy. Now, don't act like I'm a big bully. I have agreed with you in many occasions, offered friendly help about the experience in Atlanta (especially as a first timer) and even introduced myself to you (and had a friendly brief conversation) at the Jolly show. That says something, doesn't it?

Get over the drama and join us for a beer in Atlanta.

I will admit in this case I was wrong. In my original post I meant to say that I found it interesting that the tour was publicly announced with tickets on
sale 9 months in advance, but I guess as when talking with professional booking agents and whatnot I should've chosen my phrasing more carefully.

With pro bands I know the planning is much further in advance than 9 months but the way you put your response to me "bands don't book tours 1-2 months in advance" to me was very condescending, and there's ways that you can, as you put it, "educate" me without doing so.

Milton I'm sure you aren't a bad guy, just one I will frequently disagree with.

Fair enough. No harm, no foul. But I disagree with you again. Just kidding :p

The promoters in NM are really bad. Shows in TX, CO, AZ....and always nothing in NM. You either have to fly right over....or drive right through. And not even a wave!

What's the average draw for power metal shows in NM though?

Well, while I certainly don't have numbers, etc the shows that do stop here seem to do rather well. The large Native American population here is nuts for metal, esp power and thrash. There are several smaller venues here in Albq, and a ton of casinos, that could host these tours.

I'm just frustrated at the lack of shows that stop here. I can either move or do something about this myself, and perhaps I'd find out quickly that there may be a reason nothing stops here. sigh.

I am not sure about going to this tour simply because Sonata has not impressed me with their latest albums. Unia didn't do a damn thing for me, and they made up for it a little with Stones.

Has anyone heard anything off of their newest upcoming album? Maybe give us a little insight on what to expect? If I were to go see them on this tour, it would mainly be for Delain. Charlotte is an angel on stage. :)

From what I've read it's supposed to harken back to the power metal days. How much, I don't know. I'm curious to hear some clips myself.

This x 1000. Everyone should do this if we want to see better shows top to bottom here in the states.

Thank goodness someone said something like this. I felt guilty for some reason that this was as equal a draw for me as the bands themselves. Maybe it'll help them decide to stop in New Orleans every now and then....

As usual no Detroit show. Not that I'm surprised as no one would probably show up. Maybe I'll hit Cleveland or Joliet.

I saw their post the other day on FB that they supposedly believe it's more power metal in sound. I'll believe that when I hear it.

Edguy keeps on saying that too. Not sure what the deal is with former power metal bands teasing their oldest fans every time they record an album and then releasing something that's more hard rock than metal.

This is awesome! Not for me, by my almost 16 y/o son actually out "Sonata Arctica Concert" on his Christmas list this year! And now they go and announce this!! Almost like he knew or they did it for him. Lol!!

And as Dave pointed out, unfortunately they are playing 45 minutes away in Baltimore when I'll be at ProgPower. However, they are playing the Troc in Philly on Friday the 5th. So I can fulfill this request. :) It is only about 2 hours away - which pales in comparison to the 11-13 hours to Atlanta the following week.

And thanks to the person who suggested going - just to support the music scene and keep the European bands coming over.

    Fixed.

As for Sonata, just like with EDGUY,they have completely lost what made them exciting in the first place.
