Carrel is fucking genius at complete and utter retardation. It takes something special to be as retarded as Carrel gets. I totally appreciate everything he has added to any film I have seen him in. \m/
Especially Anchorman and The 40 Year Old Virgin.. love that shit

i dig what you're saying ...steve doesn't have much range, but not many actors do, nowadays.

gary oldman - FTW!!! <- most dynamic actor ever!!!

steve was really good in "dan in real life" ... little miss sunshine was great too.

...and given that both (us & uk) versions are way different to me... i think the uk version is much more comical where as the us version tends to be on the mushy/gushy/sugary side (imo).

(love will ferrell) but i don't think the office will suit him, orrr vise versa.

This. But then again even Season 5 was also hit and miss as it definitely seemed to be running out of quality material. I loved Seasons 1-4. Objectively, I still prefer the UK series but I think in-depth comparisons to the US serious are kinda unfair. UK comedy tends to have more self-deprecating, cynical and non-PC elements (see also Blackadder and Black Books as fantastic examples), whereas most US comedies tends to make their leads caricatures, exaggerating certain elements. That's not a dig at US comedy, as it can be really easy to watch and funny if done right, but also can fail miserably when they run out of funny situations/storylines.

hmmm ...maybe laughed about once or twice. Michael was still in this episode but overall I can't say i'm too psyched if this was any indication of the episodes to come.

More like actors tend to GET the same basic character in every movie they do.

But Carrell was awesome on Bruce Almighty

I liked Carrell on The Daily Show, outside of it, not so much. Same with Ferrell; good on snl being able to try new characters out etc. I avoid ferrell movies mostly because they contain vince vaughn or some other piece of shit 'comedian'.
