oddly enough, I haven't heard any mention of Windir or Obtained Enslavement, both of which are awesome, imo. really all I've been hearing these days is, "Darkthrone this, Satyricon that"

just wondering who else is a fan, or what the anti-fans think?

and feel free to discuss Nokturnal Mortum & Limbonic Art, or whatever else as well.

Darkthrone this. I havn't heard any Windir or Obtained Enslavement, so i can't comment. Goat Horns I do enjoy form time to time though.

I think there has been quite a bit of talk about Darkthrone around here lately. But I think Windir was getting a lot of attention a few years ago, and Nokturnal Mortum has been discussed extensively at this forum. For the record, I'm not a big Windir fan, I like some of Nokturnal Mortum's output, and I've never heard Obtained Enslavement.

Because Burzum's material is more substantial and conducive of discussion.

I really don't think either of those are 'big' bands, let alone black metal on the account of Horde.

Enslaved has been much more prolific then Burzum since the earliest of black metal times. Varg has just been in the spot light. His music is pure garbage(except his ambient which are passable.) Enslaved show a great amount of excellent lyric work(Burzum does excel in) and good musical talent(Varg sounds like he is playing a riff that was wrote in four minutes). I remember hearing Fenriz saying in a interview "we bashed primitive shit, BUT we were still knew what we were doing and we were not making noise" or something of the sort. I can name a couple more bands that should be in the place of Burzum (Strid and Mock to name two at the moment.)

Cite that interview please. Also, Enslaved doesn't play Black Metal anymore, and I'm pretty sure you can't read Norwegian.

Windir is pretty big, but they also border on folk/viking metal, so it's hard to consider them a really big BM band. Obtained Enslavement... never heard of them, so they are clearly not big at all.

Abigor is a good nomination for most underdiscussed.

Inquisition, Behexen, and Ildjarn are big names that are definitely underdiscussed as well (from what I've seen).

locating it now. Will send it to you through PM.

So what crazy sub-genre are they now(dont say viking metal. That is very very close to black metal)

From the translations I have had from people I know. Not perfect translations.

Ildjarn. Very very great Black metal. Another band that is much better then Burzum.

Yeah, nevermind the fact that Burzum produced some of the most profound artistic expressions to come out of the Norwegian bm scene.
