    I think the premise is right but the author really discredits the problems inherent in overpopulation

    I love when people complain that 'we can't feed everyone'.

    KFC, just in the UK, wastes over one million chicken a year. Almost everyone in a developed country wastes an obscene amount of food and loads is lost along the supply chain in poorer places.

    The argument is convincing and interesting, but also dated. John Gray argued for the religious structure and origins of modern liberalism back in 2002.

    I'm just interested in that it popped up in a mainstream publication. Too bad it wasn't the NYT lol.

    Indeed, I admit that was surprising. Gray writes for The Guardian occasionally, but then again so does Žižek.

    I don't think "liberals" have an exclusive claim on helping people. I'd argue they don't really do it at all.
