Hallatar: Mirrors. The latest collaboration between Juha Raivio and Tomi Joutsen. Tomi's black metal screech is getting downright evil.

Been listening to a lot of Propagandhi this week. If you aren't familiar with them, and you don't mind Punk music, I highly recommend them. What sets them apart from other punk bands is you can hear a lot of Progressive Metal/Thrash influence in their post-2001 albums. These guys cite bands like Voivod, COC, and Rush as influences. I like to say they are the Tool of punk bands.

Taking a break from studies, so I decided to get back to gaming a bit. Fell in love with Dark Souls. It has a fantastic soundtrack. Gloomy and sorrowful.

Ukrainian black metal band White Ward is a recent discovery of mine, with a prominent use of instrument that's quite rarely heard in the genre.

Schammasch has a nice ambient electronic/noise influence.

Meanwhile, I just found Wormwood. Too many influences to name them all -- eclectic, original metal:

This is some very promising Finnish gothic doom. Need to check out the whole album, it's called Storms Arise.

It's my favorite TJ era album. Well, maybe shares the first spot with Skyforger.
