I've heard a number of times that CAGE is good, so a friend of mine and I went to check out a show that they played in San Diego and we both hated them. I thought that they were everything that people say is bad about power metal, maybe it's because I wasn't familiar with their stuff, but they just left a bad taste in my mouth.

my favourite styles of music are heavy/power/prog and doom metal.
power metal meaning us power metal like : Helstar, Jag Panzer (of course!), Crimson Glory, Destiny's End, Lethal, Titan Force (yeaah) Sanctuary and newer names like Katagory V etc
prog metal meaning :Queensryche, Psychotic Waltz, Fates Warning, Depressive Age, Mayfair, Sieges Even, Power Of Omens and Dream Theater
doom metal meaning: Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass, Trouble, Solstice and Saint Vitus
some thrash metal :Agent Steel, Mekong Delta, Overkill, Paradox..
some cult u.s. metal bands like Manilla Road, Cirith Ungol, Brocas Helm, Gargoyle, Deadly Blessing.
epic stuff like Manowar, Bathory, Doomsword, Veni Domine
also lots of 70s Prog Rock , Heavy Rock and similar things
for non metal i would go with Dead Can Dance and some others
and one of my favourite bands is Nevermore , who i would just call HYPERMETAL

    Cage are awesome!

My musical tastes are quite similar to IOftheStorm's.

My faves may be Judas Priest, Warlord, Rainbow/Dio, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Thin Lizzy, Manowar, Agent Steel, Fates Warning, old Helloween+Gamma Ray, Sanctuary, Kreator, Sortilège, Manilla Road, Queensryche, Helstar, Artillery, Accept, Virgin Steele, Running Wild, Vicious Rumors, Savatage, Loudness, Nasty Savage, etc.
As for the new stuff I love Brainstorm, Nevermore, Lefay, Tad Morose, Evergrey, Mezarkabul, Devin Townsend, Ayreon, Grip Inc...

I only have heard the Darker than Black CD, and I think that it has a lot of great riffing hooks to it!! I think some of the lyrics are a bit cheesy, such as March of the Cage, but overall, a really good CD!!! I have not seen them live, although I would really like to, just to see what they are all about!! I believe that they played at a show in Las Vegas, a few years back, that Jag Panzer also played at, But, I never caught their set!!!

That may be one of the reasons why I didn't care for them. Their stage show was just unbelievably cheesey and completely outdated. One of the guitarists looked silly with arms that were freakin' huge, the band was covered entirely in leather, and the band that played before them, Teabag (really lame name, but they can play), was more my thing.

I believe that it was. Their style was pretty cool, very heavy and pretty progressive. Can't really think of a particular band that they sound like, but that's not neccessarily a bad thing. Now that I've been reminded of them I going to have to check out some of their stuff.
