If you could have icecream with any topping you wanted, ANY topping, which is the best period for Death Metal ? Chocolate chip, the late 80's/early 90's, or more ? How much more ? Ten thousand ?

you're seriously leaving Covenant out of that enormous list ? :tickled:
If that's your only answer I'd say it's only half convincing (which surely, is at least half satisfying). Some superb music on there, no doubt, some which mere titles bring a tingling sensation to my clenched anus that is close to existential saturation. However: one could as easily put together a list for the 90's as a decade, or the late 90's/mid 2000's period. What is it about the first wave that is so special ?

Okay. So the best period would be... mid 80's to early 90's. Same as the opinion on this thread so far.

I like Covenant, but I like every album I listed more than it. I think it’s inconsistent actually, but it peaks pretty high.

Sure I could make a big list of other eras of death metal, but I don’t think it would be nearly as strong a list overall as that one. And that one isn’t even finished. As I said, there’s loads more. It’s become such an oversaturated genre these days that there’s a lot of crap.

Dunno what you’re laughing about. Pretty common opinion if you aren’t a scrub.
