I had a bad experience with Four Roses... not with the bourbon itself, but at their distillery.
We had the worst tour guide of all time. Afterwards you get to sample some shit. Was in such a bad mood that I hated it all.

forgot Eagle Rare was BT. D'oh!

That's a bummer about Four Roses. I've got a bottle of their Single Barrel right now, and it's fucking great

    "old and rare singlemalts" ?
I can only afford the $60 and under stuff anyways.
Got a bottle of Highland Park 12 on my shelf right now. absolutely delicious!
But it's rare that I drink it that often, I stick with Larceny or Buffalo Trace which are both under $25

The Celtic Frost shirt, alcohol and casual metal horns all go so well together.

I saw that single malt article online a few days ago and was taken aback. I don't drink, but if I did that would be my drink of choice. To learn the supply is disappearing is distressing.

Having a Buffalo Trace, neat, as I saw it was recommended earlier on in the thread. Loving it. Nice and spicy.

Picked up a bottle of Basil Hayden's today for $35! That's the cheapest I've ever seen it. Got it at Trader Joe's

Best mixed whiskey drinks to order at the bar? So far I'm just sticking with whiskey sours and Old Fashioned's. Both super enjoyable.

Depends on the bar, I think. Old Fashioneds can be pretty shite if you're in a dive or sports bar.

I usually never order a whiskey/bourbon cocktail unless I'm at a cocktail bar, in which case I stick to the specialty cocktails. I prefer Manhattans over Old Fashioneds, but right now my current favorite is a Boulevardier.

Manhattan's or just your favorite economical whiskey neat / on the rocks. I'm not sure there are other acceptable ways to do it, really :p.

There's a really good cocktail bar in LA that makes a rye whiskey drink called a Monte Carlo with Benedictine and Angostura bitters

Also heard good things about the Sazerac and Mint Julep. Thoughts? I think I'm gonna start ordering whiskey on the rocks cuz usually I just order it straight and I'm done with it way too quickly. Delicious though.

Fuck it I'm having a whiskey sour as that's all I trust these folks to make and it is delightful.
