What does Lie (Lai? Lye?) mean?

It's on a number of Turisas songs, in the background or even the foreground, a bunch of people chanting "Lie lie lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie lie lie lie".

What is it?

Yeah, Shinster got it right.
For example Ensiferum's 'Lai Lai Hei' means just what it sounds like, chanting or cadence.

Isn't it the equivalent of "La" or something? I don't think it's anything deep and meaningful...

Oh right.

I thought it was some kind of wonderful special meaning or something.

It's just the equivalent of

"HEY! HEY! HEY!"

I thought it was more a "loy" than a "lay".

I believe it's a phrase (similar to 'lah') that sung in 'joik', a traditional style of folk singing in Sami culture, but I'm no expert of the subject.

As I said, it's a general lai lai lai-stuff, nothing special. I don't understand what the fuss is about.
