I just read this news on blabbermouth.net:
"Finnish "battle metal" warriors TURISAS have set "Stand Up And Fight" as the title of their third album, which will be released via Century Media Records on the following dates: Europe: January 31, 2011 North America: February 8, 2011" don't know if this has been officialy confirmed but i hope its true so there are only 2 months to wait, i will buy it the day it comes out what do you think of the album title? Last edited by Cari : November 11th, 2010 at 11:07 AM. Reason: editted the thread title so we can keep this as general discussion topic for the album |

No, but I understand what he means. Korpiklaani is such a band =P Album-vomiting machine. Love them, though. ;-)
Anyways, I can't wait for this one - I hope we'll get the chance to pre-order it soon. |

When I read it i also thought about a certain band, but anyways...
I am not yet sure if I like the album-title (somehow it always reminds me on "stand up comedy", sorry), but as long as the music will be great (and I am sure about this), I donīt care about titles *laughing* |

Well as long as the music is great the album name doesn't matter.
![]() But I think "Stand up and Fight" sounds more like "Battle Metal" as an album name, straight forward. "The Varangian Way" sounds more exotic. x) I personally like "exotic" sounding album names more, hence I'm not a big fan of the new album's name. But it's the music that counts, and I'm fully counting on it. ![]()

I don't care much for album titles, but this one will surely give less headaches to amateurish unprepared interviewers.

^I bet someone will STILL ask what the title means...
"What are you fighting for...?"

I hacked into Olli's account here on UM. That's how I got the memo.
Seriously, it was just something that crossed my mind. I have a few more ideas lol xD You guys could do a karaoke-contest for a new song (in instrumental version) and have fans come up with own lyrics ("Stand up and Sing! competition") I am not going to tell you all about a great idea for condom-design & slogan also featuring a derivation of the album's title. I'll tell you when you're all a little older, k? /sorry for lame humor, I am tired as fuck. |

Just wanted to note the official site and Century Media have the release date as Jan. 31 (EUR) and Feb. 8 (NA), but the front of the Facebook page lists it as Feb. 28/Mar. 8. Was it pushed back a few weeks, or just a mistake on Facebook?

So the tour starts without an officially released album. I am hoping that there will be merchendise and albums for sale on tour - and if that's the case, then I hope they bring a lot of albums to last the entire tour.

Apparently the album is made up of these songs (very tentative and in no order):
Venetoi! - Prasinoi! (3:49) Stand Up and Fight (5:27) Hunting Pirates (3:43) The Great Escape (4:51) The March of the Varangian Guard (3:51) Fear the Fear (6:14) The Bosphorus Freezes Over (5:37) Take the Day! (5:26) End of an Empire (7:16) These are taken from the scrobbles of a reviewer from last.fm. |
