FILM SYNOPSIS

Heavy Metal in Baghdad is a feature film documentary that follows the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda from the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 to the present day. Playing heavy metal in a Muslim country has always been a difficult (if not impossible) proposition but after Saddam’s regime was toppled, there was a brief moment for the band in which real freedom seemed possible. That hope was quickly dashed as their country fell into a bloody insurgency. From 2003-2006, Iraq disintegrated around them while Acrassicauda struggled to stay together and stay alive, always refusing to let their heavy metal dreams die. Their story echoes the unspoken hopes of an entire generation of young Iraqis.

I have not seen it yet...
I think the movie is now available on DVD !

I picked the DVD up a couple weeks ago-- it's pretty good-- and nice to have the full thing after the 30 minute tease that was on the internet a year or so ago.

Right on, I want to see this! The whole 'Global Metal' idea is really getting a lot of attention right now. It's awesome! Let's see it continue!

Pretty interesting movie. Has very little to do with a "global metal scene", for instance how different it is in Asia or something. Cause this movie just shows you that a scene quite literally does not exist in the middle east, which is not surprising. More of a window into the horrors and terrible truths of Iraq and the "war" in the middle east, from the view of some metal heads. Recommended for sure.

Definitely-- it's all that stuff with more-- it's 84 minutes plus 88 minutes of bonus material.

Finally saw it last night, totally awesome! Recommended! Rent it, buy it, but please support it and see it!
