I didn't know what to expect when I got this in the mail. Looking at the artwork, it looked like it would be something brutal & over the top. With tracks entitled "The Rise of Evil," "Burn Down the Vatican," I though I was in for one "hell" of a ride! In the press kit they dropped names like Rob Zombie, Nine In Nails & Rammstien. I popped this puppy in for a listen. My excitement turned to horror. Wolfmaster is a one man band. I don't know if it's Goth? Industrial? What I do know is, there's only samples, keyboards, drum machines & in the liners it says bass. I couldn't hear it buried under all the other stuff goin' on. As for the vocals? There's nothing here that hasn't been done before. Wolfmaster sounds like Mason in the track "Sweet Dreams." I think Wolfmaster doesn't show us what he has vocally, because frankly he can't. I imagine Wolfmaster is some college kid that is into the "Goth" scene & someone told him he was good & he went with it. I will give him credit for having the "sack" to release a depressing collection of songs. In any event, if you like music in the "Goth" & "industrial" genres, this might be up your alley. Me, I'm wishing I could go back in time & get the 25 minutes that I spent listening to this disc.
