What I think Lombardo has that other metal drummers lack is ... GROOVE!
He just plays almost laid back ... his drumming is far from perfect, and sometimes sounds sloppy live ... but by God ... he is the master of his art!

And I totally agree, being only 21.

Much like the Arghoslent thread, I don't know why it took me so long to post in this thread. Slayer is my favortie band, and this is my favorite album. My favorite song is Angel of Death, but all the songs on this album are great.

I, for one, do enjoy Seasons better, myself. Not as groundbreaking, but I can connect to the songs more.

Complete shit compared to RIB? Hell no. I agree that RIB is better but SITA hardly compares as shit. If RIB is 10/10 then SITA is 9/10.

The previous two, "Show No Mercy" and "Hell Awaits" were both plagued by rough production which prevented Slayer from sounding as brutal as they should have been.
"Reign In Blood" puts matters right, as Rick Rubin's production put them over the top, with a precise and clean sound few have ever topped.

While I agree that RiB is better than Seasons, seasons is far from complete shit compared to anything, it is a fantastic album
And Lomardo is not over-rated, the work he does on the albums doesn't necccassarily represent how gooder drummer he is, plus it's not just speed and blasting that determines the skill of a drummer; Lombardo makes Slayer who they are to a large degree, his fills and patterns are awesome and are memorable parts of many slayer songs.

All I have to say is Reign In Blood deserves its status as a classic thrash album. Seasons In The Abyss is pretty great but it still does not equal Reign In Blood.

you fucking white trash piece of shit. you dont even know what real metal is if you say Slayer is the best band ever. And if you dont like Pantera then your just fucking dumb. And if you dont have respect for Pantera then your not a fan of metal. I may not like Slayer but at least I respect them. I wish I could defend COB but theyre love em or hate em. But if you think that you like metal and call Slayer the best band even and hate on Pantera then your the n00b you fucking douchbag.

LOL! You are such a loser. Nowhere did I say Slayer was the best band. But no I don't like Pantera... it's redneck groove metal and frankly it isn't very good. Sadly modern Slayer has more than it's fair share of groove metal in it. But classic Slayer is so beyond Pantera or COB that to even compare the two is ludicrous. And not liking or respecting Pantera is hardly the defining point of whether one likes "true" metal or not. I would find the following answers for that accusation understandable: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, etc. But not Pantera. As far as me not knowing "true" metal I was probably listening to real metal back when you were still watching Barney so don't give me that shit. Now go back to your redneck groove fest.

I tend to look at Rein In Blood, South Of Heaven and Seasons in the abyss as a trilogy. I see them as equals. To me, they all fit so perfectly together as equals.

This album was part of my introduction into thrash. I bought it around the same time I bought master of puppets. I remember being absolutly awed and blown away by the sheer heaviness/speed/aggression in it. I remember how awesome everything sounded, especialy on angel of death. The production of it was so perfect that I could totally immerse myself in it. That drum fill on angel of death, it was my favorite fill of all time. Unfortunatly, the magic has worn off for me and now it is just another thrash album to me. I mean, it is still great, but not amazing to me. Still, this was fucking heavy for its time.

Well I've found that the "magic" on most albums has worn off for me but I still enjoy all those albums.

Yeah, I still enjoy it for sure. It is one of those albums I pull out when looking for an old album to just enjoy and not have to pay too much attention because you already know it inside out.
