Precisely... and sometimes I like to blast Angel of Death in my car on the way home and scream my ass off too...

this was my first slayer album and it took me a while to get into it. like most ppl here, i like angel of death and raining blood the most but i also like necrophobic a lot, too.

slayer deserves all the respect in the world, but theyll never be one of my favorite bands. i think their material, for the most part just isnt as strong as say, pre-black metallica - which to this day still beats the pants off most thrash ever recorded.

Exactly... especially if your driving down a parkway/highway/freeway (whatever word you use in your part of the country lol) at 80 miles a hour. It was my first Slayer album I bought back in 1986 and at the time i was obsessed with the album but over time I have become bored with it. But to me it is like fine wine. You bring it out once in awhile and savor it. People sometimes analyze music too much and should just shut up and enjoy it.

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Yeah and sometimes you scream 'Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes!' to people who are stop lights with you...

i loved the albulm from day 1, my only complaint is its short length.

but nowadays i keep on the shelf to be only savored on special occasions.
after the first couple thousand listens it got ..uh....."predictable"

Absolutely essential - any fan of extreme metal or thrash must own this or die! I've searched and I've searched - speed metal like Metal Church, Deathrash like Dew-Scented, neo-thrash like Shadows Fall, even brutal death metal like Nile - never found anything to equal the intensity and atmosphere of this album. Even though on paper this is shitty generic thrash (double bass? generic chugging riffs? solos that don't use scales? Satan? LAME!), the album is just fucking amazing. Best thrash album of all time (Even over Puppets, another absolute fucking classic). Changed my life.

This was one of the first metal albums that I discovered, but more important it helped me get into the genre. Looking back, I don't technically enjoy much, but back in the day Angel of Death was fucking insane to hear for the first time. I can't deny that AoD and also Reign in Blood are classics to this day. A lot of the stuff in between isn't so great though.
