AMORPHIS - Under The Red Cloud

We'll be seeing them on 70kTons. Twice. We will probably see them in Chicago too.

    Cheers/Jeers

I just remembered a cheer. Cheer: Van WIlliams is a crazy great drummer and damn entertaining to watch live!

    Cheers/Jeers

I thought it was great that there were so damn many trash cans compared to previous years. They seemed like they were everywhere IMO. Generally, that's for the benefit of the singers. We've had that before and it's probably a function of the outside temp to some extent. It was weird to...

Anyone else have any issues with their stay at Artmore?

We got a ring on the doorbell very early in the morning of the second day. That could have been housekeeping, somebody at the wrong room, or just a wise-ass. No biggy. Housekeeping was, for the most part, awesome. They did our room in the afternoon (we didn't leave the room before noon any...

    Cheers/Jeers

The Cheers I have for this year are the same for every year. Awesome performances all around. Lots of great people. All that. I didn't mind the mosh pits at all, except for the first night (during Dragonforce). There was one person who was stupid drunk and kept trying to pull people from...

    Now Reading...

I just finished the "The Wheel of Osheim" which is the last book in "The Red Queen's War" from Mark Lawrence. I listened to it on Audible. Excellent book and the narrator on the series is great. I love that the heroes of Lawrence's books are pretty much despicable, but you end up liking them...

    DAMIAN WILSON: Built For Fighting

That's a cool, retro sounding song. I suspect the album is more of a pop/rock album than metal. However, that guys has one of the coolest voices I've ever heard.

I finished "The Slow Regard of Silent Things" by Patrick Rothfuss. I really liked it. It's weird and different, but that's why I liked it.

    A taste of Primordial live

    I love that song.

    70K Cruise 2016

Thoughts from a long-time PPUSA attendee from a first 70k......... Ocean Manor hotel – room was a dump for over $250 a night. The parties in the Tiki Lounge were fun, but smoky as hell. There wasn't really much of a “beach party” as most of the people were in the too small Tiki Lounge. Ship –...

    Now Reading...

I just listened to "Of Bone and Thunder" by Chris Evans. It is basically a Vietnam War novel, but it's done in a fantasy milieu. It's really well done. The story is pretty good, but the way it's written makes it worth it. It's really a cool book to read/listen to.

I just finished Joe Abercrombie's Red Country. I think it was the best work I've read from him (though The Heroes was close). He's becoming one of my favorite writers.

    Now Reading...

I've started reading The Riftwar Saga again. It's pretty good. It's been literally decades since I first read it. I wasn't expecting to like it, but I do.

    Android or IPhone 6?

Definitely put a lot of thought into this decision. Once you decide, any apps you buy will only work for the platform you choose (Android vs iPhone). If you switch later, you've thrown that money away. I like Android because I like to tweak my phone. I want custom ringtones, backgrounds...

    Best metal/hard rock live dvds

BTW, this list isn't just for me. I'll use it to hunt down the live DVDs I want, but others might want to use it to find quality live stuff from their favorite band.
