    Glenn's Top 50 of 2023

Always fun to compare lists. I did my top 10 last night, and three in my top 10 aren't in your top 50 (Fires in the Distance, Molybaron, and Tardigrade Inferno), working on the second 10 this weekend, and I suspect there'll be one or two there as well, but otherwise, the bands are mostly the...

I really like this CD. Fills a nice melodic prog metal niche for me. Iooking forward to give it more spins.

Any chance this will show up on amazon, or some other place one can buy a non-itunes digital version?

    Eluveitie splits in two....

Looks like something went down in house over there. The drummer, guitarist, and Hurdy-Gurdy player split off: https://www.facebook.com/annamurphyofficial/posts/10156785351570447 https://www.facebook.com/merlinsutter/posts/1082206571817844 https://www.facebook.com/ivohenziofficial/ Bummer....

    AMORAL: In Sequence

I'm cautiously optimistic, I really liked the last one. This isn't bad, but is missing something compared the last one.

    Top 50 Albums of 2015

For the most part, our lists match(minus the disks I don't own). I too have Shattered Skies as #1...and I'm absolutely crushed that the vocalist left. I would have loved to see them play PP. (and sponsor them so other people could see the awesomeness too)

Official video game thread - what are you playing?!

The first game to knock off nightly dota in two years. Not bad.

Official video game thread - what are you playing?!

I just noticed it was my two year anniversary playing Dota 2 the other day (two days and two weeks). Yep. Still addicted.

    Now Reading...

Black Sabbath:Symptom of the Universe What a depressing read of Sabbath, amazing that Heaven and Hell is as good as it is with the wrecks that half the band was. I might read Wall's Zeppelin bio after this. It's gotten decent reviews...

    Now Reading...

Joe is probably my favorite author currently. He's on quite a streak of excellent books. Even his YA books (Half A War, Half A World) were really good.

    Tabletop gaming

Finding good, sane players is hard. We started with blind adverts in gaming stores, and enworld (at the time). Our first batch of players, about two thirds ended up being sane. Over time, the sane people stuck around, and at this point, we're mostly relying of friends of friends for new...

    Tabletop gaming

I've been playing and running RPGs 45 weeks out of the year since I was about 17. Since we moved to Ann Arbor in 2001, I've had a continuous game running with most of the same people (gotta pimp our wiki) We are pretty traditional, playing the d20 derivatives (3e,3.5e, a little bit of 4, and...

Making the change-over from Physical Media.

So my new(ish, now) car doesn't have a CD player, and I've been thinking since then of cutting the physical media cord sometime in the next year. As someone who buys upwards of 40+ CDs, this is a significant change for us, though since we've been ripping to digital for the last decade. For the...

Green Carnation performs entire 'Light of Day, Day of Darkness' @ DOTE

I had a slightly divergent reaction. I listened to it in 2001 and really didn't care for it much. I listened to it Tuesday after getting it on amazon, and it left a much better impression. More listens are definitely required, and the barrier for entry is still high, but nothing made me say no.

    PPUSA XVI - Merch Haul

I'm having a hard time finding stuff on my list... No new Amorphis, no new Spock's Beard. Who has the new Royal Hunt in the vendor room? Did find Next to None and Ghost Shipt Octavius, which is nice. I love the fact that I can find all sorts of hard-to-find stuff. But most of my...

    Festival shirt: Input requested

I'd go with the standard ones, they are lasting forever. We have a gentle front loading washer, and line dry our shirts, and the PPUSA shirts still look like the day they were released (except for V, not sure why that one has faded).

SOMEONE NEEDS TO EXPOSE ZANE (CDINZANE)

I agree. Great Marketing can make a crappy kickstarter take off. IMO, Exploding Kitten's marketing made that game take off, by hooking in the guy who draws the Oatmeal for that they made a ton of bank. With him they might have made their limit barely, instead of blowing it away.
