    Let's go retro !!

What's up people?!! I stopped in one day and thought I would try to log in and see if my user name still worked... it does.. Haha. Then I saw a PM from Carnut about this thread. Nice to see this place is still the same!!!! Since I wandered away from here I have found a great lady and we bought...

    Hair Metal

I'm a big fan of a lot of the hair metal bands.. Ratt and Dokken were my 2 favorite in the 80's. I got to see Dokken 5 times back in the 80's. Lynch was the guitar player of that scene for me.

Testament - "Dark Roots Of Earth"

Can't wait to here this! I though the last album was killer. Saw them on tour with Anthrax and Death Angel and they were HEAVY!

Killer band! Cool From The Wire is on my list of favorite albums. I got to see them twice right after that album came out and they were great live. Just a fun hard rock band.

Me at Pantera/Wrathchild America April 1991

Cool, always great to find other Wrathchild fans. They were from my home town, seen them a bunch of times and they were always great live. Wrathchild and Kix were from they same area and they both ruled the scene in the mid 80's. Here are a couple pics from back in the day... Here's a pic...

That's a great pic Bryant. That is Terry Carter in the glasses though, Jay had the big mustache.

    Do you like Glam Metal??

Big hair metal fan here. Dokken is one of my favorite bands. I would even say that the Theatre Of Pain era was Crue at their most Glammiest. When that album first came out I had a little trouble with their new look after being a huge fan of the first time albums. But I liked the music so I...

    Classic reissues good idea?

I think cd's became more popular in the beginning because of portability. At first they sounded as good as vinyl and had the portability of cassettes (which gets my vote for worst format EVER) so people had they best of both worlds. However in the mid to late 90's something changed to my ear. I...

    Nostradamus finally leaked.

Well said. I'm just surprised at the response to this album. I think it may just be one of those albums that takes a while to grow on people. Who knows?

    Nostradamus finally leaked.

I've only had time for one complete listen of the album but I like it. After reading all of the posts in this thread I'm wondering if there's something wrong with me. :) Anyways, I thinks it's interesting (after only one listen). Sounds like some people wanted another Painkiller album and are...

Sabaton - "The Art of War"

Haha.. Udo, you either love him or hate him. I think he sounds great on those old Accept albums, but on his solo releases I don't really like his voice.

    Rank these thrash bassists

WOW! Victor Wooten mentioned here, never expected that! It's not fair to compair anyone to him, I don't think he is even from Earth! That guy is so "outside the box" it's scary. I once saw an instructional dvd he did where he was playing this mind melting shit and then slowed it down so "YOU TOO...

Sabaton - "The Art of War"

Is it just me or is there an element of Accept (around the Metal Heart era) in Sabaton's music. Not saying they SOUND like Accept... but to me there is something Accept like there. May just be my wacked out thinking. Either way they are killer!

When you're embarrased that you don't have any (fill-in-the-blank) albums

Finding old bands is the most fun I get out of music these days. For the most part new stuff does not do much for me, if I hear 4 or 5 new bands a year I like I feel lucky. But the thing that gets me the most amped up is finding some old metal LP of some band from the 80's that I've never heard...

    Deceased

What's up there Mr King? It's Todd here, from Dave's. Not seen to you in a while. I grabbed a copy of the Rat Attack from Dave, killer! What's the next "Old Metal" release going to be?

    The Wildhearts

Six, have you heard any of Ginger's solo albums? He can write some killer pop songs. I like his work with the Wildhearts the best though. "Must Be Destroyed" is one of my favorite albums, their latest one (not the covers album) was ok but just didn't grab me for some reason. They are one of...

Where's the good new stuff ???

Has anyone heard the new Sabaton (The Art Of War). Sounds just like their other albums but there's nothing wrong with that! I really dig this band!

Where's the good new stuff ???

Cool stuff. Fun to listen to when you're in a good mood. :) I read a review for the album and happened to see it at FYE so I took a chance and grabbed it, glad I did.
