    Collibus - Trusting The Illusion

I know I don’t post here anymore but this album is defo for progpower fans. Some of you may know these Brits from their debut release but they are just about to release a new one. They are totally unsung and I never even knew they had an album coming out but God damn these new tracks are...

    King Diamond Live!

It's ages since I posted here. Let me break the duck with a live report from a great night. King Diamond has been touring round Europe doing the festivals and select dates showcasing the whole of the seminal Abigail album and finally it was London's to bare witness to the glorious dark tales of...

    Primitai - Night Brings Insanity

New album from local Brit trad metal heroes out soon. I've already ordered it and I'm going to the launch show in May. New song Black rider doesn't seem as immediate as the lead single from Rise Up but the class is there. Maybe the chorus is not quite as memorable as I'm used to but I can still...

    Modern rock bands

Always like to keep up with the modern rock/metal scene. I'm digging these a fair bit. Uk band. Not sure if they've got an album out but I guess it'll happen sooner or later. Her vocals are superb. Red Sun Rising is a band I think I've posted about before but I can't be arsed to search...

Persius - A Tale Whispered in the Night

I thought this was gonna be horrible but it's actually pretty listenable. The singer goes super high on some lines and he has an accent like most eyeties but his actual voice sounds really good. The music is power metal what were you expecting? :-)

    Southern Empire - Prog Rock

I don't normally get into this style but I like both these songs. It's not heavy at all but it's still true prog. The super chilled melodies are superb in both songs. The second song goes full DT towards the end but not as heavy as I said. This isn't prog metal but prog rock/jazz.

    Poem - Skein Syndrome

Since I just saw these Greeks supporting Amorphis I just thought let me see what their shit sounds like properly. Live I wasn't left with an amazing impression but they were ok as I explained. But now I'm hearing these two songs and the singer truly shines. His vocals are awesome especially in...

    Amorphis Live

Something in my deep memory makes me think I've seen Amorphis before but I think it's just some kind of lapse and this is indeed or was the first time I have seen the Finnish masters of all things dark and melodic. Actually to say I'm a fan of the band would probably be a bit of stretch. They...

Heresy of Dreams - Ante La Bestia - Spanish power

These Spaniards are pretty cool. The first song pounds like prime time Primal Fear. The second song started and I thought haven't I heard that riff before? Then it clicked hehe. Good job it's not Metallica they were copying!

    Killswitch Engage - Incarnate

The album is not as good as Disarm the Descent and the hype is much less than for that album since Jesse's return, but the album is still pretty good. There are some great choruses as usual. It's probably even a bit heavier than Disarm if anything and more brutal in places. I wish Jesse's...

Spanish senorita sends audition for Brian's job!

This has been going viral on a few rock forums hehe. All the sympho metal bands in Europe will be chomping at the bit to sign her up no doubt. Gal's a pure star!

    Defecto - Excluded - Danish prog/power

The start of the video is hilarious. If you read the comments you will understand. The girlfriend does a great acting job of caring little about all the metal going on around her. Seriously made me lol! Oh the music is pretty acceptable for this board's prime directive methinks.

    Sabaton Live!

Over the last few years we get to see Sabaton once a year round these parts. Familiarity might breed contempt in some bands case, but in the Swedish war machine. You know you're guaranteed a great time at a Sabaton gig no matter if you've seen'em countless times like I have. So two days after...

    Dakesis - The New Dawn

I don't know these guys at all but then I saw this video as a recommended vid and pressed play and guess what it's pretty good! Not every day you'll see an English progpower type band so you press play and hope that something good emerges. More often than not it doesn't but this Dakesis band...

    Avantasia Live

I saw the Avantasia gig advertised back in the late months of 2015, though I forget when exactly, nevertheless it would be pretty impossible for me not to go and see this touring, metallic jamboree from the mind of Edguy main man Tobias Sammet. They've played at Bloodstock before but this was...

    Votum/Kingcrow Live Report

I'm a total newcomer to Poles Votum so my attendance a this gig was based purely on the fact that I'm off for the week so I could go to this gig without worrying about getting up early the next day for work. Well of course I still have to half like the bands in question and you could probably...

    Ghost Live!

This is not my actual first time seeing Ghost oddly enough. Well not that odd, but in the sense that I never liked the band until Meliora was released. I first saw them a few years ago when they supported Paradise Lost on one of their tours. It must have been on Ghost's debut album or just...

    Sarissa - Nemesis

80s old time Greek trad metallers return with a nice mid tempo album. Not amazing but gets the old head rocking anyway.

Agonizer - Visions of the Blind

Really like this album. Melodic and catchy power metal with a slightly rough singer. His voice is actually quite unique in power metal circles. Can't think who he sounds like at all. Music is typical Finnish shreddy power. The Hazard cover is a bit odd but cool anyway after you get used to it.
