I'll agree with the consensus. Divine Wings of Tragedy is the best one to start with. From there though is really up to you. I feel Divine Wings is their most rounded, showcasing neo-classical elements, prog elements, heavier songs, an epic long song and a couple of nice ballad style songs...

The legally downloaded files contain information in them to show they are legally downloaded. For instance songs bought off iTunes have a different file extension. Not sure about other services - but just do a quick google for DRM. That's how they know! :(
