Katagory V: New song available for streaming

"I Am Change", a brand new song from the progressive/power metal act KATAGORY V, can be streamed using the ReverbNation TuneWidget below. The track will appear on the band's upcoming fifth album, "Resurrect The Insurgence".

Comments bassist Dustin Mitchell: "It has been over four years in the making, and earlier this year we had finally finished tracking, mixing and mastering the new KATAGORY V album with the help of producer Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69, ANGRA, PRIMALFEAR).

"We've had some downtime recently and decided that rather than sit on our hands and watch the world pass us by, it was time instead to let the world finally hear what is coming with a preview of one of the finished songs that will appear on the new album.

"Lyrically, this is a simple song about life changes, something that everyone in the KATAGORY V camp is now all too familiar with.

"In life, you have to either deal with change and adapt because it is inevitable, or if you don't like the change, then take a stand and make a change for yourself and move on.

"Musically, this song is a back-to-basics old school U.S. '80s metal anthem where we our wearing our influences on our sleeve. Straight-ahead crunchy rock riffing, powerful syncopated double bass drumming, in-the-rafters vocals with strong hooks, in-your-face bass, and virtuoso lead guitars!

"We picked this song for obvious reasons, and I'm sure when you all hear it… the song title will speak for itself. We hope you enjoy it!"

"Resurrect The Insurgence" is the first KATAGORY V album to be recorded, produced, and engineered by Mitchell, who is the sole remaining original member in the band.

KATAGORY V is:

Dustin Mitchell - Bass
Albert Rybka - Vocals
Matthew Bizzaro LeFevre - Drums
Marc Hanson - Guitar
Kris Krompel - Guitar

KATAGORY V's last album, "Hymns Of Dissension", was released in September 2007 in Europe through Burning Star Records and in October 2007 in the U.S. on Nightmare Records.

...thoughts?

Holy crap! This song is friggin' amazing!! Love Al's voice, have never heard it sound this good. Guitar work is awesome (not to mention bass and drums)!! DW's production is awesome (as always) and really gives the band it's due. Cannot wait till you guys can get this out!!

HALLELUJAH!!!! It is a miracle!

LOL... thank you for the enthusiasm! I think the rest of the band is celebrating along with you. ;) However, the real miracle will be if the album actually sees the light of day.

wow, thank you for the kind words! Yes this is what Katagory V should have sounded like all along, and working with Dennis improved things for us ten fold. MANY changes from the previous incarnation of the band... All new line up, new producer, new studio, stellar production, more melodic song writing, more hooks... Our only concern at this point, is that after releasing four average albums that were panned, that we've already been written off by most everyone and no one will give this new album a fair chance.
