Speaker identification...

I bought a cab this weekend for £20. It's a big 4x12, but only has two speakers in it. The back was also missing, but I figured it was worth a punt.

Well... it has one of these:

And I presume the other one is the same. But the label is ripped off, and the speaker has had some serious re-patching on the front of the cone. Consequently, it just distorts like fuck.

Anyway.... these seem to be speakers from the 70's. The only equivalent one I can see from todays range is the G12M 'Greenback' - mine doesn't have the Greenback though... so I'm wondering how my speaker relates to the newer G12M range.

Any ideas?

Yeah. Just read on their website that they did a bunch of greenbacks without the greenbacks, because of a plastic shortage. Mine has a black rim, rather than the white one above. But it's still a greenback. So I might just buy a new G12M to replace the fucked one.

I'd have the other one reconed instead of replacing it.

Less hassle to just straight replace. Celestion reckon once I've broken it in, it will be pretty much the same.
